Onlyonereds, I genuinely do not think it is safe or feasible to recommence this season and that is my honest opinion, I'm not asking for the season to be voided, you've won the league you should be awarded the title and trophy, this is not a club based position, additionally lets not forget the OP. They missed yesterday's testing target by 20% (20,000 tests short) we have front line workers not able to get tested, we have elderly who are particularly vulnerable to COVID19 not receiving tests and the Premier League want to test twice a week, can I at least suggest we complete and maintain necessary testing before that.

Yes, that's yesterday. Today 120k were done and by June you'd think the capacity to do more. Not to mention that the tests will be done privately and therefore not taking away tests for people who need them.
If it's safe for me to go to work, for businesses and shops to reopen, it's safe for footballers, especially considering they will have access to testing a couple of times per week. Obviously if we're no further along in a months time, it won't restart.

Have you been taken in by the lies and distortion of numbers, They are counting testing kits "popped in the post" as a test, it's Friday, postmen are not delivering Saturday post now so the earliest they can receive the test is Monday, there's only got to be a one day delay by either the person taking the test not being able to get the test back in the post same day, or a two day delivery service back to the testing station, then if they manage to test the sample on the day of receipt and get the result back in the post the same day, the person could, with a fair wind receive the result of the test the following Friday.
If its going to be that safe out and about, why are the pubs going to re-open in December and then with a number of strict rules?

They’ve openly said that the number of tests in the numbers includes home testing kits being issued in the post. I get your point, it’s not the same as being tested on the same day and those tests won’t arrive on the day they were dispatched - but it’s been confirmed by the government that the numbers incorporate testing kits dispatched, so it’s not as if they tried to make out otherwise.
The target of 100k tests being undertaken hasn’t been met although capacity has been. We’re now doing far more testing than France per 1 million and it will carry on ramping up. NHS capacity hasn’t been close to being breached so there’s positives alongside the obvious failings around PPE.
Trouble is no one in the media wants to acknowledge any positives at all

Guidance on social distancing in the work place are pretty broad - https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/guidance-to-employers-and-businesses-about-covid-19/guidance-for-employers-and-businesses-on-coronavirus-covid-19#social-distancing-in-the-workplace---principles
Football is a contact sport where participants will hold grapple sweat spit administer medical treatment etc This is totally in the face of all the advice. Even when work places account meet the full requirements, some steps can be used to limit possible spread. No possible in contact sport.
What does the fact these people earn millions have to do with anything. Seriously, if their wages are an issue then the club does something about it. Just because someone is paid well does not make it any more of a necessity they return to work than anyone else. It's a pathetic argument. They have contracts, terms of employment, employment rights etc just like any one else.
I appreciate you can create an improved environment for playing, with less risk. I do question whether players will want to or be able to be forced to play/train under these circumstances. Some will some might not.
A covid trest is a snapshot of that moment in time. Tested today, results tomorrow, but contract it in between meaning 2 days exposing to others before next test - others being potentially other players, family kids/parents etc.
Due to the nature of contact sport it is more likely to transfer in these situations than me sat at work in a different office or corner of an office to a colleague.
My wife works in the NHS. Colleagues have gone off sick, been tested day 3, negative results day 4, so return to work day 5 or 6, feel unwell soon after, tested again and positive so potentially positive since 3 or 4 and spreading without knowing for 3 or 4 days.
The only way to be certain is total isolation of everyone involved for the period of remaining season (5 - 6 weeks) , including all refs, physios, media, admin, players managers, coaches etc. That may be too much to ask.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
The amount they earn is def relevant in the current climate and stinks of entitlement when they talk about having reservations about doing their jobs, with safety measures few other sectors could dream of.
Before taking unpaid leave I saw hundreds of people daily in a warehouse picking food deliveries. They had no choice but to work as front line staff. No precautions buy soap. No testing. They def haven't spent the last 6-8 weeks in isolation on full pay.
This scenario is born from necessity. When we made a deal with the devil for record sums the league and clubs survival became about money. If a player doesn't want to play with extreme precautions, earning vast sums for little to no work...well I don't think many front line workers will sympathise tbh. I certainly don't.
Social distancing is impossible for people picking essential food orders and much worse than the footballer comparison. They are in isolation, and have been for an age now, train with skeleton staff. That is nothing like having 500 people in a warehouse it hit social distancing and protection. To even suggest they are similar is kinda weird...
Players like aguero with his quotes just showed how stupid some footballers are regarding covid as he barely seemed to understand what it was or how it worked.
Sure Aguero you're scared. How about doing some research as u sit on your a55 on full pay?
These measures will be some of the most vigilant around and the sums they earn unimaginable to 99.9% of people who are having to work through necessity.
And there are several types of test. One identified if you have it. One identifies if you have it or have had it previously. If the players have spent the last month or two as they should have they will have next to no worries.
If the players cannot roll up their sleeves (with pampered safety measures) when it is a case of clubs and football as we know it going under, then that speaks volumes about their ignorance in my view.
