I only agree with Scholes. None of the others were overrated IMO.
I don't get anyone saying Ferdinand. I preferred him icer Vidic massively.
I think Neymar is over rated.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
And this is why I think he was overrated as I think Vidic is one of the best PL defenders of all time. He had it all.
Ferdinand was too clumsy for me, to be one of the best, although still a great defender overall. Even for England I always thought Sol Campbell was a far better defender, yet Ferdinand will get spoken of before Campbell in best centre back discussions.
Pogba is also overrated especially by United fans, thats not to say he's crap though.
I always heavily disagree with anyone saying Drogna was overrated. Perhaps inconsistent over the course of his career but a) at his best I would say he was a beat-perfect, world class no.9 and b) even if you rate his overall career as less due to season-to-season consistency, this could be counteracted with his near unrivalled big game record throughout his career.

I think Neymar is over rated.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
He is incredibly talented though. Lost hisway a bit at PSG but his numbers are still mint.
I agree with Berbatov. I remember lots of United fans at the time complaining about him.
I'd say Rio had a short peak. Not to say he wasnt a great player outside of that peak, but there were probably only 2 years where he was absolutely immense. Still, those 2 years are amongst the best I've seen from any CB.

Aguero.
He's had a great career in the premier league and scored a lot of goals, but I've always thought the best strikers I grew up watching (Torres, Drogba, Van Persie and Rooney) in terms of how good they were at their very best were just better than he's ever been.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I disagree with this, I think he’s just as high as them, and when he was younger, so exciting to watch. I think he will be truly rated / appreciated when he’s retired, even more than he is now.
Neymar is underrated because people don’t like the flopping.
As a footballer he’s the best in the world right now.
The numbers are crazy and it’s only the injuries the last couple years that have stopped him tbh.
I think he’ll win the next World Cup if he stays fit for it.

Pirlo is a great ahout. Had a renaissance late in his career but really wasnt all that for large parts.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yeah the sudden Pirlo love in as he reached his 30s was weird. Towards the end of his Milan career he was putting in some quite poor performances as I remember, but tbf he of course did still go onto further success at Juve
I have to disagree with any saying Sterling. I think there’s just some who’ll never appreciate him, he’ll go down as one of the best PL wingers (if he stays, and if he isn’t there already) and break all kinds of records

Numbers are crazy, playing in a farmers league however. Maybe he shouldn’t have followed his wallet, I’m sure he’s regretting it now.
Van Persie - Like Torres seemed to get injured too often and this resulted in him getting nowhere near other top strikers in the league, in terms of goals scored. Think he got over 12 goals three times or something.
————-
At his best though, he was world class. In the couple
seasons in his career he actually managed to be fit for 30+ gams he was devastating (last season at arsenal first season at United)
Pogba is also overrated especially by United fans, thats not to say he's crap though.

He was overrated by some of our idiot fans before we signed him back.
Not sure any of us overrate him now.

What did he really prove though? He's won PL titles in an era where the league hasn't been as competitive as it could have been and there haven't really been top defenders around in the same way there were a decade ago. In the Champions League he's done nothing, in world cups he's done nothing. How can you compare him to the best strikers in Premier League history?

Look at his premier league goals/goal rate against the strikers you mentioned, he is head and shoulder above them.
Roberto Baggio - ridiculous hairstyle, took a worse penalty than Beckham in the WC final
Haven’t read the comments and I’m sure this has already been said but Scholes and Drogba were absolutely sensational and certainly not overrated.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
Pogba gets called overrated so much I’m questioning who actually rates him? It’s gone to the point that he’s almost underrated.
Aguero is overrated actually. I’ve said that before.
His goals to mins ratio is good (maybe the best in PL history), but he’s done nothing in the CL, World Cup or Copa America. He never even managed to cement a place in the Argentina XI.
Beyond that, he’s just a bland footballer; not a great dribbler, not very creative, not particularly fast or athletic, never scores any worldies.
Except the QPR goal, which was great due to the importance... can anyone actually think of any great Aguero goals?
