Whilst footballers get tested, frontline health workers will still be dying because they cannot get tested. Something not right there.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Can't blame football.

If the clubs are willing to pay for their own testing facilities then good on them. It should have NO bearing on what testing other organisations are or aren't doing.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

They will be taking tests away from people that need them. Not in any scenario do football players need them as a priority, even if they jump the queue by paying fir them.

The general public will not take kindly to footballers getting tested over health or key workers.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Why would they be taking tests from others if they have their own testing facilities?

You do realise that the medical facilities at most top clubs are better equipped & staffed than some NHS medical facilities.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Tests don't need medical facilities, they need the tests, which are in short supply at the moment. If clubs are using them, someone else can't. They are use once then throw away.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
How many people are now being tested today roughly

Well done. You found a company that lets you order a maximum order of 5 tests. Football will require thousands. What of the government sending 50,000 tests to America because the labs can't handle them?

You're wide of the mark if you think everyone critical of this idea are 'fvcking desperate' what, because we care about Liverpool winning the league that much? Trust me, aside from Billy, we don't.

Speaking for myself it's clearly not safe yet, and no one should be okay with people dying unnecessarily for sport. You need to give your head a shake and realise what's actually important to most people right now. Clue: it's not football.

The only people on here who are desperate for the season to resume are the fans of clubs with something to lose (or look likely to achieve something), and Don the broken record / closet Pool fan. Everybody else wants common sense to be applied and what is best for public health.

The desperation for a season resumption is just reckless greed on the behalf of the broadcasters, if there was not so much money sloshing around the league would have been binned weeks ago.

You can tell there is money to be saved, why else all the wasted time and effort trying to solve all the complexities and impossibilities of a resumption, and risking the health of the public and players alike into the bargain.

There are now instances of recovered Covid patients being left with permanent heart and lung damage, imagine the risks footballers will be taking to their future careers under these circumstances. I doubt many will be keen to start again while the virus is still around.

Then you have all the countless unfair variables and complexities surrounding a resumption of the season, it would be completely unfair to relegate, promote or hand out prizes under these circumstances, and as such lacking any real merit or meaning, so (apart from money) there really is no benefit in pushing for a restart.

Unfortunately, all this goes into one ear of posters like Don, and straight out of the other, as he is blinkered by his agenda and desperation to see his girlfriends favourite team lift a meaningless league title.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
All I did was show that tests can be ordered online. That was the top of results returned by Google.

Here is the second on the list.
https://www.better2know.co.uk/shop/products/home-testing-kits/covid-19-test

How about #3
https://bluehorizonbloodtests.co.uk/collections/covid-19-coronavirus-tests

BTW, this was to prove to sandy that football players will NOT be taking tests away from those that need them.

Also there are many, many labs in UK capable of processing these tests. There is now enough lab capacity to complete the 100k tests per day, the problem is the lack of facilities to actually get the swabs.

posted on 11/5/20

Yeah at the earliest, that's not to say it will happen and probably won't do I think, even though I hope it does.

The fairest solution is to just finish this season, there is no 2 ways about it unfortunately. Just because teams like Brighton and Watford are moaning because of the threat of relegation, rightly so to a degree, doesn't mean it should be stopped because what about Leicester, Sheff United, Wolves and Liverpool who are all having fantastic seasons. Can't just void it and start next season unfortunately.
