Another halfarsed idea from the Government.

100's of players are scattered all over the planet atm but no one knows yet when/if the 14 days quarantine plan will be enforced.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
players who left the country imo broke contracts and it's their clubs own fault for not controlling them.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Best let the clubs know your opinion. That will help

oh and all the whinging and excuses above.

woe. people dont get how close to bust clubs could be and how they wont have 100s of millions of player assets when they cant pay the contracts.

people better get used to the idea of no crowds for 12 months. it's just how it will be and we have to find money to keep league 1 and below afloat and the only way to do it is take prem money
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Can't argue with that.

Only comment I would make is that it's reasonable to have a whole season with no fans as that's a whole season where everyone has the same throughout the season. To do it with 9 games to go is the bit that some aren't comfortable with. My Brighton example earlier is a reasonable explanation in my opinion. People may dismiss it and say its the only fair way, but at least people need to understand that Brighton would feel that it's unfair to them.

Saw a finished table based on average home and away points extrapolated. Relegated West Ham. Am on board with that decision.

Isn't this just so player contracts can be sorted?

Don't think football is starting any time soon

Not least coz of the refs

We can all see how a player's head can go - whether it's transfer rumours, personal problems or whatever, as soon as they're not 100% their game suffers. Especially if they're not committed to being there.

We've all seen rubbish pre-season games where they aren't fully fit, we've all seen players rushed back from injury to first team action getting injured again straight away.

What we're doing is combining all of these in one go, with empty stadiums and headlines of hundreds of people dying. Even if all of the players wanted to be there it'd still be nothing like a proper game of football.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

I disagree. If you think Norwich/Villa/Bournemouth/Brighton/Watford WHU fighting for survival

Everyone from Arsenal up to Leicester with something to play for and City with a bit to play for and LFC needing a few wins.

Then look at this list, there are very few dead rubbers in the fixture list. I counted about 4 games:

The final table looked sensible to me. Had spurs in 8th which is fair.

And arsenal 9th

How can 22 men kicking a football round a field be safe, at anytime.

We all know of people who have died playing professional football, on the pitch.

We are not talking about care home residents, but fit healthy men.

Players complaining about not being safe face the prospect every match of being injured, does that stop them.

Testing should weed out any that have the virus, but even if they play while infected and they give it to some one else, they could of as easily broken his leg.

Life is a risk, if you are fit and healthy the risk of dying is less.

I just want football back on the TV, it's the only thing I've missed in the lockdown, it's as bad as summer and the international breaks, arrgh.

I feel behind closed doors is just about on the side of being acceptable, not undermining integrity too much, where clubs can still play at their home ground. Neutral venues takes it too far IMO. The home team has absolutely zero benefit from being the home team.

Don't know about your club but mine told the players there wouldn't be any football for at least 3 months and they were welcome to go back to their home countries if they wished.

Those with kids at school here mostly chose to stay then couldn't go home because of travel restrictions.

I believe Wolves have the largest number of absentees atm, including most of the coaching staff.

There’s plenty to play for, relegation is wide open as are the European places.

It should be a good run in

Which would get me excited. This is the best part of the season usually.

Just not jn this purported Frankenstein form.

Fair enough, some of the games are worth playing on paper. Definitely for some fans. Whether that is more important to the players than their health concerns, or their paycheck is another matter.

The rest of my post still applies.. even if the players are 100% motivated it'll still be like a bunch of strange friendlies.

Despite mounting tension and division over the use of neutral stadiums, Masters said Monday's five-hour meeting showed a "strong desire to discuss everything in the round, and to agree a collective way forward".

He insisted a "really strong collective will to complete the season remains".

But he also admitted than a cancellation of the season was discussed for the first time.

"It's the first time we've discussed curtailment," he said. "It's still our aim to finish the season obviously, but it's important to discuss all of the options with our clubs.

Someone remind me the difference between cancelling and voiding?

For sure Bales. It's weird to see the odd game behind closed doors. To see so many games, some massive matches with all the hype and no atmosphere, to be able to hear the coaches and the players swearing at the officials . It will suck but its kinda better than nothing
