Right, so insurance companies will be ending the season?πŸ€”

I do hope it comes back, I miss it. And it would be great to get the final standings, crown the champagne, and hopefully see my club qualify for the CL.
But not if someone has to die to make it happen. So make it safe or not at all.

I don't get how some people don't understand the view of neutral venues. I think Brighton, for example, have a fair point on saying that they have already played City, Liverpool, a United etc away and now have them on a home fixture that would not have the same home advantages that rivals would have. They have played the most difficult games away and will not get a home advantage in the return fixture. I think they have a reason to feel aggrieved.

But it seems that it will go ahead so at least we get some football back. Won't be the same but better than nothing. But I don't think it's fair to be honest
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I understnad, as i understand their desperation to get relegation scrapped. I think its a bit spineless and cowardly myself but i get it, lot of money and future of their club.

Everyones in the same boat from this point on and they were in the same boat when the computer was randomly deciding fixtures and their order before the season even began. Its not like someones facked them over on purpose.

They need to accept responsibility for the positions they are in so far rather than coming up with excuses and try to weasel their way out of possibile/probably relegation, not only because its the manly thing to do but because theres teams who deserve to come up and take their places.

Its an unfortunate situation and some things may turn out to be unfair on some, might not its not even been decided yet because they havent played. All it is atm is speculation, i bet if we finish the season a few of these clubs crying will avoid the relegation they fear so much anyway.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Brighton could argue that part of the reason they are down there is because they have played the big sides away. Then, the others may not and therefore it will balance out once all games have been played. Now their relegations won't play at Anfield infront of Liverpool fans. A ground Liverpool haven't lost at in the league on ages.

Its clearly not fair but then again there isn't a fair resolution. I'm just saying, people are belittling Brightons argument without considering it properly.

Spurs won't get to play the NLD at home but have lmayed the away fixtures infront of a full crowd at the Emirates. Both teams in with a slight chance of CL foot yet spurs will play one of the biggest games without the benefit the rival team had previously.

Why would anyone be excited about football coming back in the manner that's being suggested? It sounds sh*t to me.Neutral grounds, no fans and players dropping about because they have symptoms of, or are worried about Coronavirus, plus they'll be rusty as they've had a couple of months off and no proper pre-season.

Yaaay
----------------------------------------------------------------------

So what do you suggest then ? No football for the next 8 months ? They are saying probably no crowds until atleast Jan, so we are just going to have to deal with it. It’s s*** and nobody really wants footy without fans, but what can you do ? Footy has to resume at some point.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
By all means resume football, play a load of friendlies to fulfill the broadcasting entitlements if they must, but don`t expect to promote, relegate and hand out prizes under these wholly unfair circumstances. Whether Don the Parrot likes it or not, the season can not now be right and proper, and will have a giant asterisk against it forever.

Insurance companies will not be happy with the season starting and a lack of pre-season, they have the power to stop the season if they refuse to cover the players.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I doubt the players will be covered for catching Covid-19 as they'll be playing against government advice (2 metres apart).

Try getting millionaires to sign a waiver saying you agree to play knowing neither you or your familky will be covered if you catch the virus
----------------------------------------------------------------------

It's a work place. They'll be covered by standard employment law,

This is true in any scenario.

There is no way out of this that is 'fair' to all.

They’ll just be exhibition friendly style games. Players being forced to play. No fans. Just getting through the minutes to please the TV companies. Won’t be watching.

posted on 11/5/20

so they wont be playing for their futures? their clubs futures? their fans futures? none of them give a sheite about any of that? theyll just stand still 2 meters apart on a pitch until 90 mins is up.

I definitely want football back but not at any cost.

I don’t want adopting things like 5 subs or neutral stadiums and ideally in front of fans but obviously for these 9 games that won’t be possible.

Also definitely not no relegation either that would be a farce.

Said it before. The players will have the final say and no one else.

If their safety is compromised in anyway they will pull the plug and rightly so.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
You'd like to think so. They certainly shouldn't be forced back to work if it isn't safe. Let's see the politicians sitting in the House of Commons first, show us how there's nothing to worry about anymore.

I fear that money will talk in the end, though. They're taking millions to do nothing right now. If the flow of money is threatened I think they'll take to the pitch even if they're not happy about it.

The games will be so weird. Behind closed doors is strange enough, but a bunch of players who don't want to be there playing largely pointless games won't be entertaining beyond the spectacle of how strange it is.

If you think that assets worth 10s of £ms will be allowed out to play if they are not properly covered by insurance then you're a bit naive. Footballers arent allowed to ski or ride motorbikes etc , so of course there is potential for insurance issues to prevent players from taking part. They will be consulted on this situation.

Footballs back baby.

So to clarify things, the league is restarting because the government have confirmed no sporting events in the UK until 1st June at earliest. So nothing different as to what it was yesterday.

No agreement is currently in place amongst the clubs as to where when and how the season will start.

No confirmation that the players, players union, players agents are in unison with agreeing the restart.

No confirmation as to which stadiums will be used.

No confirmation as to what dates and times the 92 remaining matches will take place.

No confirmation that PGMOL have been consulted and will agree to officiate the forthcoming matters.

Can't see what possibly can go wrong, let's get this party started

the things have happened

the government have finally given their basic outline which shows why epl have been planning.

and

the fa have set their stall out regarding relegation and avoiding ahead of the big epl meeting.

the only question is if clubs will dare defy the fa tonight

posted on 11/5/20

oh and all the whinging and excuses above.

woe. people dont get how close to bust clubs could be and how they wont have 100s of millions of player assets when they cant pay the contracts.

people better get used to the idea of no crowds for 12 months. it's just how it will be and we have to find money to keep league 1 and below afloat and the only way to do it is take prem money

We can all see how a player's head can go - whether it's transfer rumours, personal problems or whatever, as soon as they're not 100% their game suffers. Especially if they're not committed to being there.

We've all seen rubbish pre-season games where they aren't fully fit, we've all seen players rushed back from injury to first team action getting injured again straight away.

What we're doing is combining all of these in one go, with empty stadiums and headlines of hundreds of people dying. Even if all of the players wanted to be there it'd still be nothing like a proper game of football.

Another halfarsed idea from the Government.

100's of players are scattered all over the planet atm but no one knows yet when/if the 14 days quarantine plan will be enforced.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
players who left the country imo broke contracts and it's their clubs own fault for not controlling them.

Your opinion has absolutely nothing to do with a player’s contract. Just so you know.
