The FA is the national governing body for football in England and is responsible for sanctioning competition Rule Books, including the Premier League’s, and regulating on-field matters.

Ahhh thanks

The Football Association holds a regulatory Special Share in the Premier League, which means it must approve:

- a change to promotion/relegation
- and/or a change to the number of teams in the league

The FA have no power to dictate, only to veto; as usual, it will all go away with money.

There will be no relegation.

Good. Fck these bottom 6 parasites. Though I do agree neutral venues is a stupid idea. Germany is going ahead with home and away games.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Germany is going ahead, but a measure of how confident they are in their own ability to complete the season...

There are no games and no fixture list beyond this Saturday's round.

Right. And veto is exactly what they will do if voiding the season or no relegation is suggested.

You say they have no power, then you say they have the ultimate power, which is to veto any decision the PL make. 😂

The FA have full control of the rules of the game in regard to promotion/relegation, and the number of teams in the PL.

You can't void the relegation but keep the title race going. Either have both or neither.

They have power of veto, but can't unilaterally tell clubs what to do.

They can't make up new rules but have the power to veto.

So what happens if there's a stalemate and nothing can be decided

The FA have told the PL, there will be promotion and relegation, and have also told them the season will not be voided.
The clubs will now refocus, and reach a decision within them parameters.

Now its up to the clubs to work within those criteria.

Exactly.

Teams facing relegation are often a banana skin at this time of the season as they are fighting like hell to avoid the drop. Take the relegation away and they'll be on the beach meaning that the teams trying to qualify for European places are going to get a far easier ride than they should do against the bottom 6. Which destroys the integrity of the campaign as a whole.

That said I can understand why any relegation threatened club would do anything they can to try and keep their home games in their own stadium. Villa have 6 of their last 10 games at home at even without fans thats a big advantage that they won't want to lose.

Everything I've read seems to confirm that going down loses a club far more money that the other scenarios so its inevitable the 6 teams will do all they can to take that possibility away.

Yes - the FA are the rule makers and the PL need them to sanction any changes in said rules.

If there was ever a good time to be relegated then this would be it. They will have a massive advantage over struggling Championship clubs next season.
