The only players Klopp hasnt replaced since taking ocer are Henderson and Firmino. In fact Henderson has never been dropped for club or country by any manager and is indeed captain.

What do oppo fans think all these managers see in Henderson that people who have never played a season of FA registered football at any level don't?

He's the typical workhorse midfielder some managers love. That doesn't make him a great player though, decent plus some leadership qualities.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Lots of managers love him. So just work rate then yeah? Plus some leadership qualities.

I'm surprised that's all it takes to captain an elite club but there you go, you wahl and matth may be onto something.

Yay it’s only taken 9 years for someone to say it

Our discussions from years past where I said I reckoned I’d never see us win the league again have thankfully not come true

Pretty much it. I wouldn’t have him over McT or Fred. Both of those have made solid progress for us.

I think plenty of people have explained this - he’s immensely valuable to Liverpool because of what he gives them but they don’t feel he’s anything special as a player.

Why would any manager get rid of a reliable, hard working player who is absolutely captain material?

I don’t think he’s crap.

But I don’t think he’s great, either, and I think Klopp is the key to his success.

So wahl, matth, Vidic, N2.

I wonder if there's a pattern.

He also has a good cross and some other attributes. But a lot of teams have their own version, so he's not desired by opposition fans.

Exactly. The pool fans also like to underrate McT and Fred but cry when anyone does the same to Hendo.

There are quite a few patterns there. You won’t like any of them.

This is a ridiculous thing to say. How could you possibly know they don’t feel he’s anything special as a player?

Fair enough bud.

I find it interesting from Utd fans especially though as I think Henderson is EXACTLY what Utd need. They'll look at McT and I get that but he can't pass gor sh!t and that's not something you learn in your twenties. I look at Fred, a continuity player who doesnt score, assist and is mince in the air and Henderson does everything he does and more. I look at Pogba and just laugh now, from his nauseating celebration to his inability to play in a two to the circus that surrounds him Id have Hendo every day and twice on Sundays. Matic aint even in the conversation.

Tbh I simply think these people dont know the game. Henderson can play various positions, pass long and short and also first time. If you look at his goals and assists the quality within them is as good as any of those mentioned above. He's absolutely woeful in the box at finishing though tbf.

Each to their own but I reckon you can tell those who have played to a half decent level and those that haven't from appraisals on Henderson. Sterling is another gpod one for that. Same types thatquestion why corners dont beat the first man.

Writing 'just my opinion' seems de rigueur atm so there it us.

No, the people explaining their view of Henderson!

Annie

Pretty sure that is the general opinion on Hendo from people on here that don’t support Liverpool.

I think if any of the top clubs wanted to bolster their midfield up that wouldn’t be looking to buy him.

Which is why it’s a ridiculous thing to say. You might as well say he’s only still at the club because he’s taken John Henry’s kids hostage and won’t release them u TIL he’s been made captain, is played every week and gets payrises with every new contract.

Seeing as we’re plucking things out of thin air.

The club don’t think he’s anything special

Only if you don’t follow the comment I’m replying to Fields.

Anyway, yes, I’m saying that there are plenty of people who think Henderson does a wonderful job for Liverpool but don’t think he’s a particularly special player.

Nothing hugely wrong with having that view, is there?

No, but then again I’d take the opinion of someone who watched him every week & the manager over someone who watches the odd match on the telly, or highlights.
