Wow.
The whole if you are not a parent does not sit right with me tbh (I am a parent by the way)
You can still make an educated call/judgement on this matter.
Winston I get your point about how what was deemed safe in 2007 may be viewed with abhorrent disdain in 2020. I mean I am a child of the 70s and 80s and we stood up in the back of the car, pah seat belts who needed them?
However that does not take away from the fact that they left 3 small children alone in a room to go and have a meal.
That is neglect regardless of what the opinion is either now or then as to how you view their actions.
Just my opinion.

Rob was mocking the idea that you can tell by looking at them, and you decided to counter that by saying you could tell by looking at Huntley.
Sorry, but it's laughable.

I'm not necessarily disagreeing, I'm just saying that I feel uncomfortable being so emphatic and aggressive in that judgement when I don't actually know what being a parent felt like in 2007.
I'd be fascinated to speak with parents of similar age children who went to Portugal at the same time.
But no one here is interested, are they?
They just want to blame, to abuse and to sit in judgement.

I don't think anyone is arguing here that the McCanns aren't guilty of some kind of neglect. I also don't think anyone really believes they are equally as culpable as the kidnapper. Actually, in that case, why are people arguing!

I may be charged with hypocrisy but I do think that's different. The 7/8 year old is a bit more mature than a 3yo and a couple of 2yo and would be capable of taking on board some imstructions such as 'dont' talk with strangers' and 'scream if someone grabs you'. Bit irresponsible to put the responsibility on the 7 year old child not to get murdered. Although I am not a parent so it may be responsible.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
My 8 year old is a proper scooter boy and on the half mile walk down to our local adventure playground he might shoot off infront of me and be out of sight for a few seconds.
If anybody thinks thats the same as leaving 3 youngsters in an out of sight apartment for 5 hours while you get p1ssed then they need to give their head a wobble.
I saw a video of Kate sunbathing in 2014. I don't know about you but that would be the last thing on my mind if my kid was missing. Something doesn't seem right to me.
I feel sorry for their kids, but why is this 14 year old story being dragged up again?? Same time every year, it’s just a bloody distraction from everything else going on.
This new “lead” will lead nowhere.
