Robb & Winston

I direct this to all but name you both as you are the most recently involved in this entire discussion and I firmly believe that you do appreciate such discussions and hope that you respect others’ opinions.
Regardless of what you might think of my opinions, I can promise you I am reasonable person and I do listen and I truly enjoy hearing other people’s points of view, as long as it consists of more than ‘you don’t get it’ et cetera.

My question is if you have watched the video that pek posted from Jordan Peterson and if not whether you would be willing to or not? I am completely willing to watch any video that you may think I would benefit from watching.

Here is the link for ease:

https://youtu.be/sSDClxjcR-4
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Did they even reply?

I watched it. I've heard him say much of this in other videos, but always enjoy it when someone can analyse something academically. It beats all that wishy-washy stuff we constantly hear.

Also watched that other link you posted, and came across this one in the recommendations which I think is more relevant as it's about police brutality:

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=1C2HrbQTzwk
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I’m afraid not

Watching this other one now.

As I said, the most stupid person I've ever come across. You can't argue with stupidity on that level.

that made me laugh out loud, I actually put you beneath robbing on the intellect level and that really is saying something.

It's insane how little so many British people knkw about their history especially the history of the Empire, its not thought in schools though so understandable.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
Indeed we’re not taught anything about colonialism at school. It’s all Stone Age, Bronze Age, Gold Age, King Harald, Tudors, Henry Xiii, WWI & WW2
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Well, I did Gandhi at school, so the British Empire isn't totally blanked out - and that was back in the early 90s. I agree that British imperial history should be taught in schools. As a former English teacher, I can say that a lot has been done there, at least, to promote "non-Western" voices and perspectives.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
That's good to hear, its needed in a country that has a massive population of ethnic minorities who are in the UK because of colonialism.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
strange generalization

the folks from the Caribbean arrived to take up menial labor jobs that our working class couldn't be bothered to do until the industries got smashed by thatcher and we became a services economy

Poles arrived mainly during or after the war from fear of communism

most Indians arrived after they gained independence

most Bangladeshis arrived after they too formed a nation to escape persecution from Pakistan and poverty

Most Pakistanis arrived after the partition due to lax immigration laws owing to them being part of the commonwealth of nations.

look at the racial make up of the country both during and after our colonialism. People came to the UK for a better standard of living and due to lax immigration laws not because we were currently ruling their country.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Nope, you throw away "gained independence" like it means little FFS.

The vast majority of ethnic minorities in the UK are there due to their home nations being colonised, France is the same especially with Africans.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
No he didn't throw it away. Most immigrants have arrived after their independence. And we often agreed to independence with war, unlike France.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Again gained independence, from fecking who? And how was it done? Why was it necessary in the first place etc.?

Brittan were beaten out of multiple nations they illegally colonised and now expect everyone to just say ah it's grand.

Sat Nav, sorry missed your post earlier.

I’ll start by repeating myself - I will give you the benefit of the doubt with your intentions. I’ll also apologise for lowering the tone. This is a sensitive subject but I shouldn’t have done.

But I’m not seeing a great deal of humility from you. Your comment about institutional racism having to involve discriminatory laws is simply incorrect. And being quick to bring up the fact that white people experience racism as well is, I’m afraid, not likely to be well received.

Onto your video... have watched 10 mins so far. What are you trying to prove?

This guy seems to believe that striving for equality is the same as striving for communism. He’s basically presenting an argument for a capitalist society... but I’ve not argued against that.

I’m sorry, but debating whether the UK has systemic racism issues is not the same as arguing against capitalism.

I found his comments bizarre.

Inequality isn’t fair pay for the work you do. It’s not being rewarded because you’ve performed better than your counterparts.

A bizarre standpoint.

Anyway it's pointless trying to debate this until folk actually learn about it.

Here's a good starting point, two famines in India and Ireland.

Like in. 1847 when literally tons of food was taken from Irish towns and shipped to the UK while the people who grew it were starving to death. Or the two million people in Bengali who starved to death having been described as basically sub human by Churchill.

This is the history you either choose to ignore or are ignorant of, this is what people are angry about, its the same root cause in the America as it is with POC in Europe.

Why most people want is acknowledgement of why these protests are happening and are necessary. Not much to ask.

Accept that current Western society is built off the back of colonisation and slavery, understand this is how the powerful became powerful and how the systems they built are designed to keep the creators in power and the subjugated down.

This is what BLM means, how centuries of being treated like second class citizens has led to a society that is not balanced. Its getting better, but with this improvement it means more POC are much better educated and are now starting to have the ability to properly stand up for themselves.

Really though it's empathy they want. For people to listen to them and not to get so defensive when challenged with the reality of the life POC live. Basically don't go mental if a statue is defaced, better listen and try to understand why people feel the desire to do it.

ok listened now what?

the stats don't back up the "feeling" of persecution these people have

most of these riots are attended by people deliberately set on their own agenda

Even the protestors who are 'fighting' for equality don't actually want equality they have some distorted view of what that is

take this

https://thehill.com/homenews/state-watch/501530-protestors-boo-chant-go-home-jacob-after-minneapolis-mayor-says-he

an unbelievably liberal mayor, walking with them, who has been beyond patient with their antics, because he refused to agree that the police force should be removed from he city in its entirety they turn on him.

same old same with liberal lefties, if you don't agree with them then you are the enemy. your point of view doesn't matter.

this is why they fail. they get there little uprising every now and again then we go back to good old reality and move on with our lives.

"defend the police" pull the other one. most of these idiots live in neighborhoods already over run with gang and drug problems, imagine if there was no police?

they'd be protesting that then, cant win.

give them their 5 mins of fame blow off some steam, back to work tomorrow. idiots.

let me ask you a serious question carra

if racism is truly systemic then one would rightfully assume every non-white ethnic group would suffer because racists usually despise anyone who isn't "their own"

but if that is the case, why do many other ethnic groups prosper?

why do people from India and the Far East come here and take full advantage of our opportunities and thrive but other ethnic groups continue to live below the bread line.

At some point can we ask the question? why certain thnicities are 2.5x more likely to come from broken homes, which countless studies have shown has a significant impact on the Childs outcome.

Why certain groups have their hand out constantly, feel persecuted even when there is little supporting evidence aside from blown up media portrayals?

you yourself are Irish, in Europe you were amongst the most persecuted and loathed and yet today would be laughed at by any ethnic group if you tried to say anything about your persecution as you are now just coupled in with us whites.

there are no doubt racist influences in every corner of society but to assume there is systemic racism in the UK when other hard working ethnic groups prosper given the same opportunities is just a sad indictment of a peoples who don't want to look inward at why they are where they are.

its always someone else's fault

I think they should teach it 52, and teach it properly. That would go some way to acknowledging what happened? As it is it must be a bit of a slap in the face to anyone we’ve written out as being on the wrong side of history. For example what we were up to in Kenya in the 50s I only read about for the first time today... Proper education on the darker side of the Empire might go some way to quelling some of the more toxic nationalism we’ve got bubbling away at the moment too.
