At least our 3 in a row record still hasn't been broken yet.

I think it’s underestimated what an incredible achievement it was. Especially the second time, there was some strong competition.

Just going through this thread now.

What makes the three in a row impressive in the late 2000s is that we didn't prioritise the League either as we reached 2 CL Finals, 1 FA Cup Final, 1 FA Cup semi-final and one League Cup final in those seasons as well.

2008/09 was ridiculous as out of all the games we could have played (discounting replays) the only game we didn't play we could have was the FA Cup Final. That was an outstanding effort really.

Yep, it’s what’s most impressed me about us recently too - not just the pl wins but the domestic cup dominance as well.

To do that and win the title three times in a row is an incredible achievement.

It'll be interesting to see how Liverpool fare next season. Will they think that's it and relax or will they go again? It'll also be interesting to see what Klopp does for the rest of the season too. There's a reason to keep going for the points record but they could also make an argument that it'd be good to rest some of their players so they can start afresh in the new season.

I think in the post Covid world it could be an unpredictable season next season as players are only human and other things may seem to matter more if we're still adjusting to that life.

i don't think klopp will start resting many players, they've just effectively had 3 months off, albeit without any actual relaxing holiday.
and there's going to be a much shorter gap to the start of next season.
reckon he'll start each game strong, and then look to give the reserves/youngsters time once the games in control. use it to give them all more game time and embed into the 1st team more. the last 6 games ( reckon city will still want to give us a hard game. trying to regain some claim to superiority) will effectively be the start of our pre-season.

If I were Klopp I'd absolutely use it as a kind of pre-season. I'm thinking he may well try and give the front three a bit more of a breather though as they've played a lot of football these past few years.

It's an ideal scenario in many ways. A competitive pre-season where 5 subs can be used. You'll also get the rest in August as well I suppose when the rest of the European competitions finish.
