Do quite often read comments online about Neves playing further forward but just don’t see why myself.
To me he is one of the deep lying midfield players in the game. He is excellent at closing down the gaps ahead of the defence, he wins the ball much more often than he is given credit for, and his long distance quarterback style passing is second to none.
For an attacking midfielder I would like us to have someone more mobile, with some pace, who can find neat passes round the crowded areas near the penalty area, and who can get into the box with the strikers when we attack down the flanks. Don’t see that being Neves’s game
The midfielder coming in this week is evidently Vitinha from Porto. 20 years old
Also known as Victor Ferreira
I'm becoming convinced Jeff reads all the social media and forums, logs all the names being put forward and goes and buys the one nobody had suggested.
He is coming on loan but with an option to buy for £20m. Lots of unhappiness in Porto evidently because he is considered another top prospect
And he is a midfielder of the attacking variety. Scored 8 in 14 games for Porto B
I don't know much about him but Portuguese using a Brazil 70s style name has to be good
I think the gauge of a signing is the reaction of the selling clubs fans, Porto fans are fuming
Don't know if this is new news,
Benny Ashley-Seal going to Northampton.
Signed for undisclosed fee.
Vitor Ferreira signing this week from Porto. £15 million.

Just confirming Spangles' earlier post. ๐๐
Seeing a pattern here with Porto. Introduce a load of youngsters to the first team around Xmas to give them some games, bill them as prodigies and clubs come calling in the summer and take them.
Decent bit of business for them, flogging us two unknown lads with 20 league games between them for 55mill. The Fosun/Mendes business model has worked pretty well for us so far though, can't think of many that we've not made a profit on. If these two fulfill their potential it might be possible one day, hopefully not before they've won a few titles with us though.
Wonder how many of Portugal’s World Cup winning squad of 2026 will be or will have been Wolves players. Certainly count in Neves, Neto, Jota, Podence, Vinagre, Silva, Ferreira, Jordao. Probably more to come.
Moutinho and Patricio joined Nuno’s coaching staff with the national team by then

Looks like Wolves raiding Porto for their best young players may not be over yet. With Silva on board and Ferreira due to sign this week, we are now linked with their 18 year old right wing back Esteves.
And some reports are also linking us with their more established 27 year old left wing back Alex Telles. He was tipped to join Chelsea but then Man Utd became favourites. But now some reports say he might come our way with Vinagre going in the opposite direction
Would be disappointed to see Vinagre leave. This is his chance to nail down a first team place and I think he has the potential to be a quality player.
will be a shame to see him go the kid has a lot of potential, if we get Telles and it's a big IF that's a fair price to pay though
Our squad as it stands today. That's assuming Bennett, Bonatini and Miranda are leaving. Are we putting too much emphasis on players from one country?

I do sometimes wish we would look at places other than Portugal. I guess due to the ease of getting up and coming players, it is the best place for us to look at this time. May change if we progress.
Whilst it is nice getting this youngsters it is a lot of money for what are basically unproven players and then add in the pressure of their fees and moving countries. It is a risky strategy and I think we need to add experience to balance things out.
Actually, take out Roderick (aka Miranda) from that list.
How many home grown players are meant to be a squad? With Doc and MGW gone our squad is looking a bit thin for home growns.
