I agree. They are very top heavy.
They had the joint 12th best defence in the league.
Can’t see 36 year old Thiago Silva coming in and having a Van Dijk like impact.
Think they’ll be 3rd or 4th but I’m not quaking one my boots thinking about them.
A couple of smart additions and I’d still be confident we’ll finish above them.
Think people underestimate them defensively if rudiger n kante play a full season fit their def will improve regardless. Also kepa was pretty shocking if they use anyone else in goal prob improve them too.
Werner hits the ground running continues his form could get 30 goals in the league, pulisic is talented enough to be pots too.
They've got some lethal attacking options though, if they all click they could be pushing towards 100 goals at least.
Could be like Liverpool in 2014 where they'd outscore the majority of their opponents but just pull up short at the end.
Are Chelsea buying players better than those already playing in similar positions at other clubs?
Well, certainly not in comparison to Liverpool and City.
It's arguable whether their front 3 is better than Uniteds, so as has been said, I don't see Chelsea doing anything other than battling for top 4 again, almost certainly with United.

Rudiger isn’t all that and big question marks about Kante. Looks injury prone these days and often players with his all action style deteriorate massively in their late 20s.
We’ll see I suppose
As things stand, I think it’ll be a straight scrap between Liverpool and City, with Chelsea following pretty closely.
If they can wrap up Havertz and get the attack gelling, they won’t be worrying too much about being leaky at the back, because they should be scoring for fun.
We should be the best of the rest, but we’ll undoubtedly lose Bruno, Pogba and Martial at different points through the season, and will suffer each time. Chelsea have much stronger depth up top than we do at present.
I expect Spurs, Wolves and Arsenal all to be pushing us.
I dont think they overachieved either, they finished 4th with the 3rd most expensive squad in the league at their disposal? Look like theyll be adding 250m to it they should be expected to challenge.

The first part of your comment is correct.
Even if Chelsea, after the window shuts, have players even close to those in the top 2 in terms of ability, the one key ingredient they don't have, is a world class manager.
Something many fans seem to forget when they start handing out accolades at the start of the season based on transfers alone.

? Who else was he replacing? Salah?
Doubt he was replacing anyone hence why we didnt pay the asking price. He was looked at as an option to rotate the front 3 more than likely and challenge for first team.
I think the problem is that with United, you always get the feeling that if the window ended a month earlier, we'd get deals done a month earlier. So it's not necessarily about how long you have to wrap things up, rather that there is a drawn out saga driven by brinkmanship. That's an incredibly risky strategy when you only negotiate for one target at a time if, as is widely reported, that's how we do things. And in terms of recent signings, it doesn't seem to have reduced the eventual price tag paid much, if at all.
