OP, are you really expecting the board to sack Ole because we haven't started the season well though?

I think lots of us have doubts about Ole's long term ability to get success with this team but that doesn't translate into fans wanting him out straight away.

I always said I'd just him towards the end of this season and that's what I will do, though openly admit I'm not expecting much at this stage.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
No. To be honest this article is my clumsy way of articulating the frustration I feel.

The Red Side - I think we could add failing to act quick enough as another black mark against Ed Woodward perhaps?

I don't want Ole to be fired but I do think a time will come that we have a right to expect consistent performances.

Utd have had plenty of those seasons though.

I jokingly said Utd should try changing their fans because at the end of the day the only people who seem really unhappy are glory boys. Maybe that's not such a bad idea, the sense of entitlement is fairly nauseating.

I'm not majorly unhappy I just want us to be doing better. I don't think that's unreasonable.

I think only Nohlman is really unhappy and he’s a special breed.

I don’t understand the whole ‘give him the season’ talk. How does that even work? What if we keep losing games?

----------------------------------------------------------------------

It's more to do with 7 games not being enough to form a full judgement.

Obviously if we're in the relegation zone in January then that changes, but as we saw last season, that isn't realistic, no matter how much one might pretend it is at a certain point.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Wouldn’t it be nice if one season we didn’t just wait for things to be so bad we have to fire someone we have doubts about and just were proactive enough to bring in the right person before it went to shiiiit?

Klopp is at Liverpool after they rolled the dice early on in the season and sacked Rodgers who had done a decent enough job but wasn’t really going anywhere.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Not to me, no.

I'd rather be a club that don't make snap decisions at the start of a season, off the back of a transfer window where the manager is backed.

Nobody's fans enjoy a crap season when you keep losing and even get relegated sometimes. Yet we all still go and pay to watch it... and spend all days moaning about it.

Nothing 'glory boy' about that.

Fair play mate.

I share your frustration, though a sign of the times is I've come to expect it and see the funny side where possible.

2021 looks concerning for Ole at present, but let's see how it goes.

Frustration is the word. We can do better, and we've shown that too, that's why a flat performance like Arsenal is so disappointing.

Let's hope we can go on a long winning run, like we've shown we can do, and see where that gets us. I'm sure we'd shoot up the table if we did that.

It would be ridiculous to suggest that we could not achieve top 4, considering 'if' we beat Everton we would be 3 points away from 4th. However, waiting for it to be an impossible task before getting rid, would be ridiculous.

I like Ole, I really do. I want him to do well and succeed. However, the issue is that he's a limited manager. His joining us has definitely helped with harmony and positivity, which the club massively needed. It needed healing. Heck, I can actually say, I like the team for a change.

I think as soon as we're knocked out the Champions League, as it seems we'll go through to the knockout stages, I think he will be done. The general patience will be gone.

My only worry is, who will be available?

-------------------------------------------------

Definitely, and in this case I am worried he'll let things drag on for longer than they need to in the hope they'll improve because it's Ole and because he'll be the 4th manager under him who'll have failed.

Sacking Ole if it comes to it should be the last footballing decision that man makes. It's just self-sabotage to let him continue making big sporting decisions.

posted on 4/11/20

There is also a viewpoint that some want him gone now because he's not good enough.
And some because there is someone in the wings they prefer.

Unless dire I like to support our manager, like Diafol, I don't like agitating for him to get sacked.
I don't think Ole has failed anywhere near enough to sack him
Also I'm not an enormous Poch fan, some will contradict, but his team didn't play exciting football to me.
But if he gets the job I'll back him against allcommers.

Well, I am. What with Ed in charge.

And with Potch sat at home with a crate of larger watching it all on the telly.

Ed wont be able to help himself if we lose the next 3 games.

Depends on the league form. Look at Mourinho, he went long before the knock out stages as we were cut adrift of the top four.

Ed is as sharp as the Waco Kid when he comes to firing managers

posted on 4/11/20

I don't think Ole is the manager that can get us competing with the very best over the course of a season in the League and CL, even if he's backed in the next window or 2.

I don't really want Poch either though.

Then I don't think you've been paying attention to how the club is run over the past 40 years.

Not really.

Generally we're not a club that makes snap decisions to sack managers, and I for one am pleased about that.

This is the main problem. Potch comes with less than Ole when it comes to winning stuff. He also hasn't managed a giant club yet, like Ole has.

Therefore who do we actually replace Ole with, who isn't yet another sideways step, rinse and repeat merchant?

----------------------------------------------------------------------

That shows a gross lack of understanding of the difference between Ole and Poch. Winning trophies in Norway is much much less impressive that having Spurs compete for the title and the CL (and the CL with no signings for 500+ days and no home games).

If things get bad we could appoint Kjetil Knutsen.

----------------------------------------------------------------------

Whilst this is true, what we don't know about Poch is how he would perform with a big budget and with big names.

It's a gamble and a step up.

He thrived on getting the best out of players on a lower budget. That won't be required here.
