When I saw the “I’m on a roll” bit, I thought it was another bread related encounter
But the fraud accusations are complete nonsense, why would Biden have any need to negotiate a deal for Trump’s immunity?

I know I'm an old crusty, but slice it how you like, not all my articles are bread related.

I'm guessing due to the 10s of millions of people hanging off Trump's every tweet readying themselves for civil war.
Sounds far fetched to me but I suppose that's the theory

So you don't think there's anything in it VC. They seemed reasonably sure on this French programme. But it was probably only conjecture.
This will be more the Republicans demonstrating their position more than Trump trying to avoid jail time.
The fact that only 3 Republicans have the decency to congratulate Biden sums it up.
Those senate seats for the run off are going to be critical to determine what this new administration will be able to get done.
Georgia btw.
The President has the legal right to pardon anyone, not excluding the president himself. He can also secede to the Vice-President and be pardoned from him/her.

I assume the issue with that would be timing - that plan goes out the window if he gets convicted/charged once he's no longer president
So unless he's going to admit to his various crimes and make sure he's charged between now and January then anyone who wants to see the bloke pay for his various crimes will just wait
I’ve been waiting for Killary to pay for all her crimes for years but that doesn’t look like it’s going to happen any time soon so wouldn’t expect anything to happen to Trump either.
Has anyone seen Biden’s comment about how poor kids are just as bright and talented as white kids? 😂

There might not be any legal basis. But Trump has convinced his core support that anything he says is true. That's a fair chunk of the population with a strong chance of civil disobedience/rioting. I would imagine civil unrest is the main bargaining chip the Donald is trying to manufacture
The president can only pardon someone for federal crimes. The SDNY investigation is where trumps real problems are coming from. Which if he is convicted Biden will have no jurisdiction over.
In theory I suppose Biden could lean on Coumo in NY to pardon Trump for the sake of national unity but it would make a complete mockery of the last 4 years of dems pearl clutching at Trump's crimes. I think Biden would lose a lot of political capital if a deal was made.
