You didn’t ask if it was OK, you asked if he should receive the same punishment as Suarez. Clearly he shouldn’t as the context is completely different.

He’ll probably get some form of punishment for his naivety/lack of awareness though.

Never really doubted that the word in isolation is not offensive in Uruguay. Enough people have clarified that for me not to think they are all lying.

If, however, Cavani had gone up to Ryan Bertrand today and said it numerous times in a clear attempt to antagonise him, I dont think i would want to see him play for us again.

As it is, it clearly wasn't meant with any malice and i think Cavani pleading ignorance is probably fair. Personally wouldnt say it warrants a ban, but if the FA give him one to maintain a precedent I suppose that's understandable.

Think that's all pretty simple, and all there is to say on it really. If you claim not to understand that there's no real point conversing any further.

I was pretty critical of cavani for this but it's nothing like the Suarez incident

No, he doesn’t. But what you’re seeing, and will continue to see, is people deliberately simplifying previous arguments. Now, apparently, all that matters is the word itself, and the relationship between language and context must be completely disregarded in the name of point-scoring

Cavani has surely been a bit naive though. How can Suarez’s international strike partner not have been aware, as it would seem, of the details of the Evra incident?

Different context to Suarez but he should know better than to use that word in England and I'll have no quibble if he gets a ban similar to Bernardo Silva.
