I genuinely don't get it. If you want him to not do the tricks etc just coach it out of him and sit him down to talk it through and encourage him. Why does their always need to be a guy to blame publicly?

Lucas and Lamela when playing give the ball away in similar positions to that Dele does yet neither have been outed.

I dont think Jose is a bad guy, he is just a weirdo and over does the mind games and overthinks the game in the current state. Concentrate on the football and managing the squad and actually football match properly. Stop with the constant digs at players, opposition coaches and talking nonsense just to provoke a media reaction.

I think Jose rates Dele alot and sees him as not fulfilling his potential. He expects alot more out of Dele then other players because he can be a special player so when he does not perform it pishes Jose off more so than other players. My theory anyway.

True, but its not just Jose that experiences that kind of thing though. This is his preferred manner of motivating or improving the player? How do other managers do it without creating media shockwaves? It works some of the time but that doesn't make it any less honourable tbh.

I’m surprised it hasn’t worked out as I think Dele personifies what Jose looks for in an attacking mid. I do think managers (Jose included) have a blind spot that they hate a player who misplaces one or two unnecessary flicks - yet don’t get frustrated by Lucas Moura going on pointless runs 5 times a game and eventually lose the ball

Yep. I'm prepared to admit Mourinho has a lot of skills as a manager still, but I think this is one of his weaknesses - once he gets a negative impression of a player stuck in his head that's it. He never gets past it and his ego won't let him put it aside for the greater good.

Ndombele would be the one exception I suppose. I doubt anyone is more surprised at how Ndombele has adapted than Mourinho himself

You have to expect that your attacking players will give the ball away from time to time, as it is their job to try and create opportunities. It is then the job of your defensive players to stop the opposition and win the ball back.

Otherwise you end up with a display like against Leicester where players are afraid to try and create and end up passing the ball around safely between themselves while creating the square route of fack all.

Mourinho was wrong to criticize Dele, he gave the ball away in the middle of the pitch, Stoke had a lot to do before getting a shot on goal and it should have been meat and drink to the defenders, but Sanchez was slow to block the cross.

Mourinho is unfairly singling out Dele, particularly when you consider other players do the same more frequently, and yet can do no wrong.

I know that many, who are much brighter that I, have already touched upon the Jose post-game interview with Stoke, but please indulge me:

- In listening to, and viewing, this interview, one might have difficulty understanding that Spurs had won the game.

- This issue should never have gone public. Players frequently make mistakes without being publicy humiliated.

- If you watch the video closely, it would appear that this guy is not behaving normally. He is operating under some sort of psychological pressure, job security, financial, marital, spiritual..............??? He is someone who could definitely benefit from professional counseling of some sort, and, for his own personal benefit, the sooner the better.
