My first thought that it was bad for City, not good.

Healthy dollop of confirmation bias here either way.

Far from a deliberate ploy but as unintentional as it is the blame lies on City. Everton now have to fit in this game later on in an already congested season. I struggle to believe a club with the wealth City have couldn't field a team tonight.

Everton have asked for full disclosure of the information of why the match was postponed, and rightly so. We shall see what arises

Nightmare for City.

After playing twice a week for the last 2 months we already had 8 games scheduled for January - Now we're going to have 2 league games in hand, possibly 3 plus the CC Semi.

How does the blame lie with City lol. Nobody was saying this when the Newcastle game was postponed.
Kind of sad that fans would use a situation like this as an opportunity to point score

We could probably field a team if the game was not cancelled.
The decision to cancel was not City's.
But why would you want to expose other teams to us at this moment?

it wasn't about fielding a team, it was about controlling the spread of infection throughout the club. Im sure if asked we can easily play the game on Wednesday or Thursday once everything is under control

City are on a 10 game unbeaten run, have the best defence in the league and would have gone 2nd with a win tonight.

You would have to be thick as pigshit to honestly think the club were somehow avoiding the game.

46 hours in between two games is ridiculous though.
It seems Liverpool fans were secretely delighted with our fixture congestion which could explain their outrage.when the game was called off.

Not sure having to fit in extra games suits anyone right now.
Although, it is worth remembering that the Premier League had previously said that teams would have to fulfill any fixture, if they had at least 14 players available, including under 21's.

I’d ignore anything on Twitter (or a couple of replies on this thread), this isn’t a good thing for us at all and I wouldn’t be surprised to see more of our games postponed. It is the right decision though, as it was with Newcastle.

More importantly than anything, I wish everyone who’s got it a speedy recovery. A football game not being played is insignificant to that right now.

Some weird obsessions with Liverpool on here.

I've waded through dozens of articles in the papers and on SM.

Not a single one mentions the wefare of the players infected.

Seems its a bit off for fans to talk about the 11th hour cancellation of probably the biggest game of the weekend.

That rule was introduced for injuries, not for players with a highly contagious virus.

Yeah, that's not true.

'Premier League clubs have been told they will be forced to fulfil fixtures in the event of Covid-19 outbreaks among their squads this season.

The Premier League's determination to get the congested 2020-21 campaign completed on time is such that clubs have been told requests for postponements will be rejected unless they have fewer than 14 players available, and that they will be obliged to utilise their Under 21 squads to ensure matches can be played'.

Of course it's true, even basic Track and Trace would tell all the other players to self isolate for 10 days even if they had tested negative.

Plenty of PL players have tested positive and gone into self isolation, whilst the rest of the squads they are involved in, continued to play games.

Including City against Newcastle and previous games where players have contracted of been in contact with infected people whilst on international duty. - Mahrez, Laporte, Bernardo, Gundogan etc,
