We literally handed the ball back to Liverpool about 237 times and they couldn't do anything with it.
Some team they are.

We are absolutely cack today and they couldn't beat us on their own turf and we very nearly won.

Plus they had the the ref on their side, Thiago should have received about 9 yellow cards and also Rashford was wrongly flagged offside when he was through on goal.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
We were poor but the ref was not on our side.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
He really was.

Explain how Thiago didn't receive a card for the entire 90 minutes?

Liverpool kept fouling us when we were about to break, the referee was trying his hardest to not book the Liverpool players.

Thiago got away with it countless times.

He even performed 3 lunges on United players, something Robinson got red carded for yesterday playing for Fulham.

The referee was completely on your side.
If the referee was on our side, you would've been down to 10 men my friend, possibly 9 as Fabinho kept fouling us as well.

Rouge, it’s pathetic to call that game similar to Fulham.

That’s either sour grapes or a basic lack of knowledge.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Its not though. Maybe look at the stats of both games
----------------------------------------------------------------------

I don’t need to look at the stats.

I have a modicum of knowledge about the game.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Fulham gave us a tougher game. Ask any pool fan
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Okay mate.

I think in the cold light of day you might see some sense but clearly a few Liverpool fans are a little hurt that they didn’t get to smash United today.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
We were never gonna smash utd today. I feared a loss and am happy with the point as we are hanging in til matip, jota return

Ref had a decent game imo, and certainly had no impact on the outcome.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
The players helped him a bit, but yes, he was very good I thought.

Of course they’re all that, they have the best front 3 in the world

That was clear from today’s blitzkrieg

Why united attack kept getting caught offside against fabinho and henderson I'll never know. The football iq of some players blows my mind at times.

They could give them.a 5 yard headstart but martial in particular...well I see why united fans pull their hair out with him. Him and rashford can do the sublime buts it's like if they have time to think they just do something daft.

Where should Thiago have received a red card? The ref seemed to give you most of the 50/50s, oh and ended the first half early while we were on the attack. But thankfully there were no dodgy penalty incidents or anything like that. Just going to forget about that game and move on now really.

Liverpool are burnt out, rosso. Same thing happened with Dortmund when Klopp ran them into the ground for six years.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
No. We are missing 3 cbs and our midfield pairing as a result. Simple stuff. Also jota injured
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Why did Klopp start the season with only 3 cbs when 2 of them are known sicknotes?
----------------------------------------------------------------------

How come your so obsessed with Klopp 😆😆 you sound desperate

I hear what you’re saying but I still think you’re underestimating the improvement players like Henderson and Fabino would make to their midfield even if they don’t offer so much offensively. Klopp has been fortunate in having a regular XI that he’s been able to play most of the time, once injuries come in and you have a very unusual season happen, form will be effected and a team will become disjointed.

I think there are some problems that Klopp needs to address but I think with time and players returning they can still be a very strong side again.

OK

I don't think the Fulham 'challenge' against Azpilqueta was a red yesterday but in the officials eyes its a red card.

Thiago did that same lunge today, twice, One on McT in first 10 mins and I think the other one was Rashford, maybe Bruno around the 75-80th min mark.

Apart from those two lunges, which were both yellows in my opinion, he continuously fouled us when we were on the break. One springs to mind was when Pogba was through and he just runs into the back of him and pushes him over, no booking.

Rashford does his first foul of the entire game and immediately gets booked towards the end of the match.

Thiago escapes a booking the entire match, when he could have easily seen red cards, twice over.

Yeah the early whistle in the first half, it was odd but perhaps the referee thought he had been sh!t towards us so gave us that one?

Liverpool will get better when Jota returns. Firmino is shiiiiit. Mane and Salah need a rest as well. They’ve been run into the ground.

They have been quite lucky with injuries the last few seasons. Perhaps a team that has been that fortunate will struggle more when injuries do occur and the usual team has to be changed.

They had a lot of breaks as well that they're not getting this season (like Pickford handing it to Origi). These things even themselves out.

He’s created some of those problems though himself, as Darren pointed out (once again) by his refusal to rotate.

He could have used Firmino, Mane and Salah more sparingly they last three seasons. Instead, they averaged over 55 games each, Firmino almost 60. Robertson, 55 game average last two seasons. VVD almost 60. That takes a toll.

It also means that when your deputies have to come in for longer spells, they’re gonna take more time to bed in because you haven’t developed them or given them minutes to play in competitive games with their teammates.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yeah, Firmino is a big weak link at the moment. He’s clearly someone who needs the players around him to be playing well to be effective. He’s certainly not capable of taking a game by the scruff of the neck. He wouldn’t have gotten anywhere near the game time he has if Jota hadn’t gotten injured. Some of his control today was embarrassing.

posted on 17/1/21

I get that Klopp doesn’t want to rotate Firmino with the injuries at cb.

posted on 17/1/21

Yeah he has but I’m sure he didn’t expect what has happened these past 12 months to have happened. I know it’s the same for everyone but his style of play will clearly struggle significantly more with games being squeezed closer and a very short summer.

I’m not sure how much more he could have rotated in recent years if he still wanted to compete with City domestically and get as far as he has in Europe. I may be wrong but I’ve felt pretty much all the successful teams in recent years haven’t really rotated much with a core starting XI playing as much as possible.

Well..... no ......

....... but i did point that out last year, it just kinda got lost in the overwhelming hyperbolic rhetoric that it was competing with.

A very ordinary team that happened to get the basics right at the right time at the same time as (at least) two better squads went into ... ahem ... 'ill-motivation mode'.

Granted you can only compete with what's in front of you, but relative to most squads that have won the highest league in England, that one was just .... meh (if i were to bow to modernism).

City rotate a lot. And they’ve burnt out a little the last couple of seasons as well.

Whether it was Klopp’s decision or not, I don’t know, but Liverpool haven’t invested well enough in their attack for a few years, and they’re suffering from it now.

Their sub attackers haven’t been good enough. Jota is the only one that looks like he belongs in a Liverpool shirt.

posted on 17/1/21

Liverpool aren’t an ordinary team - they’re excellent.

Equally, they’re not the superstars that some people made them out to be... talk of them being the best team ever was grossly premature.

Liverpool been poor for a long time now. They just have incredible luck not to lose games. So many lucky draws they had this season when they deserved to lose.
