We have problems, most notably with the keeper and centre backs. Conceding early, sloppy goals all the time is always going to have an impact on performances.
Could be worse though. Look at Arsenal, Spurs and Liverpool

We did have a relegation 6 pointer last season 2 months in. So they may be correct
Careful or you’ll be accused of being “top reds”
Man Utd scored the most goals and had the most shots on target. Even have a chance of breaking the goal record and shots on target record this season and that is with misfiring forwards.
Martial and Greenwood 2 of our best players after lockdown have barely done anything of note this season. Rashford continues to miss big chances in games that matter.
Also our goalkeeper is having his worst season at the club. If anything we most likely would be 1st if we had better goalkeeper and luck in front of goal. We conceded some ridiculous goals. We should have 12 more points but some ridiculous bad luck. Liverpool Leicester Arsenal away we missed big chances and deserved to win all of them but got only 3 points. West Brom away cleared off the line and West Brom scored an illegal goal. That is 8 points more we deserved in away games. The home games against Sheffield United and Everton. Sheffield United scored an illegal goal and we scored a legal goal but the ones that stood were the opposite. 3 more points there and the Everton game Rashford had 2 big chances 1 which was a near open goal to finish the game.
I make that 13 ridiculous points we dropped that we should have easily won. Also the Everton game where did 4 minutes come from when in the game against Southampton they only added 3 which had a lot more stoppages. They even played a minute extra for Everton to score.
Just shows you how important small margins are. Man City have been getting a lot of luck while we have been having a lot of bad luck. City grinded a lot of tight wins while we played much better than Man City in the tighter games but dropped points.
Also Arteta must be the most clueless manager in the league. How many games do Arsenal have expected goals of 0. Something. Never seen an Arsenal side so uncreative before. I feel sorry for Auba, he is playing in the most negative Arsenal side in the premierleague era.
We could actually do with someone like Aubameyang as he won’t bottle the big moments like our players do.

don’t get all the players back behind the half way line and hope for the opposition to give it back to us.
Probably because most of our players cannot defend for toffee and there’s no structure to defend off the ball either. We have absolutely no idea how to offer any protection to a calamitous back four.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Well, that’s simplistic, at best.
We use the situational high press when we have the opportunity to win the ball back in the opposition’s defensive third, which is led brilliantly by Bruno, uses a closest-man approach and has delivered for us in terms of zonal possession and global possession, as well as in keeping teams under pressure for longer sustained periods.
This is a large part of the reason why under Ole we’ve significantly increased our number of ball recoveries in the opposition half despite not using a high block, and why we’ve significantly decreased the amount of time the opposition keeps the ball when they win it back.
It’s also best use of our out of possession energy consumption in terms of cost-benefit.
We haven’t always done it well. In fact, we’ve sometimes done it very badly (as with other new tactical tools, like playing out from the back with the draw-in and quick transition approach), but the signs are that we are steadily improving. We’re recognising the better opportunities to do it and when we should drop in better, and we’re executing it better in terms of coordination.
As far as defending when we do drop in goes, yeah, there are a bunch of problems there, from the midfield shield giving away too many freekicks, to failure to track runners (usually I reckon from conflict with zonal responsibilities), to insufficient cover being provided by the wing forwards (which has been a massive issue), to the fullbacks starting too narrow, to individual weaknesses.
But there’s very obviously a structure there. It’s pretty consistent and pretty facking rigid. You could take stills game to game and not know which one you were looking at. There are, of course, problems with adherence to the shape, player movement and behaviour, but the idea that there’s no plan or instructions is wrong.

It's not just that - We're doing alright, we're second, smashed our Europa tie and are still in the FA Cup. It's one thing to be #OleOut when we're 7th and losing, but that aint us this season.
That's not to say that there aren't things that should be improved - for example the fact that we're in Europa after some poor CL performances, and the recent poor run of form. I think even Ole's most ardent supporters can see that there is certainly room for improvement, in performances, subs, etc.
I think that's where the big difference is, the Ole Outers don't seem to be able to acknowledge things that are going/have gone well and just wait for bad games to be able to say that the PE teacher should be sacked. As well as this, inherent bias basically means both sides are watching through one set of tinted glasses or another - to the point I saw some people still criticising him during the 9-0. For some, he'll never be enough. The kind of people who, if they'd been alive back then, would have had Fergie out after the first season.
So far, Ole has been fairly decent tactically, especially in the big games. His signings have been decent - top quality. Jury still out on Donny admittedly, and James seems to be doing better now than most of last season.
Rambling a bit now though.
