Imagine hounding out a Legendary manager for this sh!t show, I bet they appreciate those top 4 finished now lol
Grass isn't always greener folks π
Who knows when we'll ever get top 4 again.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Did we finish top 4 in his last season when we only won one away game all season?. Rapid decline, he should have left when Klopp was available.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
So one season out of 20 not making top 4 means he couldn't get it next year? Interesting way to see it lol
But lets be honest most people didn't appreciate the top 4 finishes anyway so him getting top 4 in his last season wouldnt have stopped ungrateful children hounding him out. Infact most people were sh!tting on his top 4 finishes as if it wasnt a good consistent achievement.
But the irony is if we got top 4 now those same people would be celebrating as if it was a trophy even though they mocked it π
π€£
----------------------------------------------------------------------
What evidence did he show that he would pull us out and turns things around?! Maybe it was the consistent batterings from the Chelsea’s , l’pools, city’s, utds?!. Or Was it his stellar signings like Mustafi and squallici.
I still don’t get the OPs point as he can’t answer my wuestion

One game? We had the 10th best away record in the league. Basically where we are overall now
But he had the 2nd best home record behind city. This remember was by far his worst ever season where we all said time to go.

The last 2.
His last season saw us finish with 12 less points, and the lowest points tally since 95. Hard to argue in favour of him reversing the trend, especially as he spent a large amount to get that decline.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Ok my bad I stand corrected then. But that doesn't mean he definitely wouldn't have gotten top 4 again after getting Auba etc
But like I said him getting top 4 wouldn't matter anyway, people were ungrateful of that achievement, he was a victim of his own success. He was so consistent at getting top 4 that people mocked it, imagine that lol.
Well they ain't mocking it now... funny how things workπ

So you would still have Wenger as manager then?
If Wenger had stepped down in 2013 then his replacement would have been in a far better position than Emery was in 2018.
Wenger made a lot of mistakes in the transfer window, failed to address clear issues, and gradually fell away from top 4.
The season where he only signed Cech because he thought he was a keeper away from the title should have sent warning alarms to everyone. And there have been many accounts from those close to him that say he had opportunities and money to further strengthen that summer - including Diick Law.

Look, the whole ‘be careful what you wish for’ thing is inherently flawed. If things are going great, no one wishes for something different.
What you’re basically saying here then is ‘well, if you think things are bad now, be grateful, because it could get a whole lot worse’.
And you’re right, of course. Under Wenger things had gone from frustrating, to stale, to verging on awful - both on and off the pitch. It was difficult in the end to know what was worse. A once great manager slipping into becoming a crude caricature of himself, or the colourless cliche his team had slid to.
Whilst I agree he was treated poorly in the end, it was only because the end was so long in coming that it happened - though in fairness that is on the club, more than on Wenger.
Emery was treated badly too, but he was just a bad fit. Again, the club were at fault. Sadly it’s not looking great at the moment for Arteta either. Who chose an inexperienced coach though. KSE.
I wish we had a more patient fan base, but what club has these days? And anyway, it could easily be argued that, thanks to the Kroenkes, we’ve p/ssed away the last 20 years. How much patience are we meant to have?
So yeah, if things aren’t working, it’s okay to wish for something better. Just as long as you know the risk involved.
Risking a deteriorating situation for an unknown one is totally understandable, though.
If anything, it’s the braver thing to do.

Because that is when the mortgage payments eased and we moved forward from the having to sell a player a year.
Wenger had done a good job in those times, but was out of touch with the market. He was also unwilling to accept help, the way Fergie used to so successfully when rebuilding.

So if he did a good job as you say, didn't he deserve a shot at seeing the fruits of his labours beyond 2013?
I mean it doesn't really make sense for him to leave after riding out the storm, he would obviously want a shot at competing which I think he deserved... but perhaps less grateful fans didn't... which is exactly the point.

Out of sentiment you could argue he deserved it. But football doesn't work too well on sentiment. Sometimes you have to be ruthless and see the opportunity for improvement. If Wenger had been open to assistance it could have even worked with Wenger in charge.
Wenger deserved to go for crying out loud. He was an awful shadow of the once excellent coach he used to be. The Arsenal of his final season was snivelling embarrassment of front running free loaders all happy to turn up to holiday camp.
If anyone should feel hard done by (given the state of what’s followed him) it’s Emery. He himself wasn’t a great fit for the club and seemed to constantly coach crippled with self doubt, fear and uncertainty but only a complete moron would think Arteta was in any position to do a better job at a club in serious decline and without leadership or direction. You’ve basically handed a “high flying graduate” a CEO position at a floundering company and then been shocked by the atrocious way it’s turned out. The whole thing is a laughable mess of a situation.

https://youtu.be/Z0IP_jEy7Lc embarrassing. Just deserts. Read the comments can you disagree with how we are now being mocked by opp fans. Even to this day I cringe so much at this footage. Remember this is because we found ourselves just outside of top four after 20 years of leagues, cups, doubles, champion's leagues top four finshes. If there was football karma how can you deny we are now not getting what we deserve.

This same clown is now happy with Arteta. Trust the proceses
Good tip in life. If the calibre of person you have similar views to is a guy like this..... May be a sign of how people perceive you π
Funny how some are only one dimensional thinking.
We can all agree that it was time for Wenger to go but we can also agree that we have screwed up badly in the recruiting department since his departure.
In hindsight you should never have sacked Wenger, certainly wouldn't be languishing like you have over the last few years.
To do that to your greatest manager too.

What evidence is there to suggest that? Wenger started the decline, and we are still hamstrung by many of his bad decisions. All evidence points to the thinking we would be in a similar position with Wenger in charge.
And he is 71. Only an absolutely clueless mug or a Spurs fan would think Wenger should still be in charge - or someone who is both, hence your opinion...
Easy to use ‘hindsight’ without having to prove the outcome would’ve been any different.
Arsene is 71 now. He’d already shown long before he left how little he would adapt to new coaching methods. That wasn’t likely that to change with age.
Besides, post-Arsenal even he’s realised he’s happier away from the pressure of management.
That alone should tell you enough.

Because that is when the mortgage payments eased and we moved forward from the having to sell a player a year.

I hear you, I agree that he was a bit stubborn and should have been more open to change.
But who am I to think I know better than a legendary coach... was what I said to myself at the time lol

https://youtu.be/Z0IP_jEy7Lc embarrassing. Just deserts. Read the comments can you disagree with how we are now being mocked by opp fans. Even to this day I cringe so much at this footage. Remember this is because we found ourselves just outside of top four after 20 years of leagues, cups, doubles, champion's leagues top four finshes. If there was football karma how can you deny we are now not getting what we deserve.

https://youtu.be/FUC2wRMIxlw look at this nob π carrying banners around to away games in Spain.
DJ is that you?
Our players said the banners shocked them but our utter embarrassment of a fan base carried on. The club became toxic and has never recovered
