Not even close this one....not off bat anyway

I think England have recovered this sufficiently today to get away with it.... There was some money on us bowling after tea today

Will be interesting to see Pope v Lawrence's career.

Pope is more talented, but Lawrence seems to have more about him and is mentally stronger.

And yet... After 11 innings (ie before this test) Lawrence's average was 24.8 with two 50s and no tons.

Pope's average after 11 innings was just shy of 50 with three 50s and one ton.

We’ve rallied well from 165-6 to close on the score ever had. Although far too often we’ve been in this situation times with 3 or 4 wickets going into a new day and see their bowlers have their feet up in the changing room by 11:30.

Would be nice if we able to frustrate their bowlers for a substantial period for a change.

Dammm I forgot the 2nd test started today

Will Jacks thumped 70 off 24 for Surrey this evening... and then got run out by Jason facking daydreaming Roy, who was scraping along on 20 off 26 at the time.

Still, can't complain at 223/7 off the 20 overs

Who cares? Surrey hammered them

Need to build & get past 300-350 this morning...a statement of hope over expectation...

Pope is definitely a better player but to be fair to Lawrence, starting away in SL and India is a tough way to start your test career.

It was a decent knock yesterday made even better by the circumstances. He's been well supported by Stone and Wood though helped by the fact that they've faced a lot of balls and he hasn't felt the need to farm the strike.

Indeed shame Jacks was cut short though, he was on track for an absolutely monumental knock. Jason Roy can be so facking dopey at times.

The irony of course being that "Daniel Lawrence" is a proper posho Surrey name

We call him Danny Laws m8!

Whereas we call our ginger prince Lord Oliver Popington III, heir to the Duchy of Bell's Cover Drive.

Pretty disgusted the way the media shorten his full title, tbh.

Typical England, opposition bowlers feet up after half an hour as I said.

This is not the most likeable England side ever, being perfectly honest, but Mark Wood
