I have to say I'm a bit disappointed it's not Poch.

I'm really unsure on Conte. Others appear to be ecstatic about it but isn't he a bit divisive? I can't say I know a great deal about his management style and whether he's a fit for us but I've got a horrible feeling the ones that are excited are the same ones that got a hardon over the Jose appointment.

I just feel we need a project manager. Not another divisive one.

Hes the best shot to get us a trophy whe kane is still here next season

This is worrying. Much rather you got that loser Poch

Then when that inevitably goes ballsup kane is sold next summer and a rebuild manager comes in the season after when the new DoF coming in with Conte signs 7 flops with the Kane money

I'm definitely more of a "project manager" guy, and I vocally wanted Mourinho out before he even officially signed. I'd still be delighted with Ten Hag or (to a lesser degree) Potter.

...but Conte is like Mourinho 12 years ago. He's still a fecking good manager. His tactics aren't all that defensive - fairly direct, but he likes ball players throughout the spine. And more to the point, he's a lunatic who demands money. He wouldn't sign if Levy hadn't promised him funds.

Is he really that good? I'm not so sure. He spends a lot and has taken over teams that regularly win leagues anyway. Juve (always win), Chelsea (won with Jose 2 seasons earlier), Inter (lucky that Juve are washed up having a terrible season).

I see nothing to convince me he can get this spurs team challenging. And that's the thing. If we don't challenge in the first year, it's all over by the second. Sound familiar.

I think we need a calmer, long term approach. This appointment flies in the face of everything Levy said about progressive, entertaining football.

I'd prefer Poch, Ten Hag or Potter because they better fit what I like to see from spurs (long term vision, emphasis on youth, entertaining football)

But in terms of "which manager can we appoint that will see us win the most games next season" it's obviously Conte.

I don't disagree, and my heart still says Ten Hag as my #1 choice (too soon for Pochettino to come back imo). But the logic behind hiring Conte is the same as the logic behind hiring Mourinho, which is still sound logic - only trouble with the decision was the fact that Mourinho is cack. Difference is I actually rate Conte.

I might be wrong but I'm getting the same vibes I got when Jose signed. My heart says he might, just might get it right but my head says that this is a terrible appointment as we're without an endless of pot of money getting managers that require it to do their thing. Poch, Ten Hag and Potter are the ones that fit the profile of the club better.

Levy is making decisions like he's in charge of Chelsea, United or City. He's not. Therefore the manager choice should match the ambition and financial strength of the club. Conte isn't that.

Juventus hadn't won a league title without match fixing for nearly 10 years when he arrived, back to back 7th placed finishes the two seasons prior to his appointment. He then wins 3 league titles on the bounce instantly. He started the Juventus domination - you can't use it as a reason why what he did wasn't impressive

Attributing intern's title win to Juventus is unfair - he had to first of all turn them into an excellent side to capitalise on that.

Chelsea finished 10th the season before he came in and everyone thought that side needed a rebuild

How many managers come in next season and guarantee 'progressive, entertaining footballing' I'm sure fans of every club want to see that, it's pretty arrogant for us to feel obligated to that.

Conte is the guy we should have got instead of Jose. Now we have Conte for 2 years and then the rebuild will come with a Poch/Potter/Ten Hag without Kane and Son when we have more money and those two irreplaceable players have been moved on

There are 3 managers out there right now that I would love to sign. Poch, Conte and Zidane.

The thing is, unless we actually back the new manager we will have the same issues as we did when we signed Jose. The new manager needs to come in, absolutely gut the squad and be given time (2/3 seasons) to bed in. Do we think that Levy will allow the manager to actually do this?

I could get behind Martinez and Potter but it would be such a let down if we end up with this caliber of manager if we miss out on Poch or Conte.

I still think this is far from done, shows that levy statements are just to get fans on board imo and he knows this appointment will excite the majority.

Hes a free agent, will cost a shed loan in wages for a manager but won't be paying for long. Hopefully we have seasons back in the CL with him and maybe win an fa cup and then he's sacked or walks.

We won't have the same problem we did under Jose because Jose isn't here anymore.

He'll no doubt "prefer to kill Levy" inside a year but the crazy man might also turn Tottenham into a contender. The kind of players he's dragged to a league title sometimes is amazing.

Huh?

Surely you don't see the problems that we have had in the last 2 and a half seasons as just an issue with the manager?

Under Jose's tenure the biggest problem was obviously Jose. Obviously the squad needs to be improved but not to the extent that he's managed to convince some fans it needs to be

Conte is one of the very best coaches in the world, would be foolish to turn him down

Every man and his dog knew Jose was finished. Appointing Conte would actually strike a slight bit of fear in our rivals I think

I'd like to think Conte is only going to agree to come if we agree to what he wants. Signing the DoF he worked with at Juve is a sign that Levy is willing to back him in the market. Jose didn't have nearly the same leverage to make demands.

Whether he lasts 2/3 years is likely going to be as much on him as it is the club. He'll likely walk before he's sacked if things start going south.

My sauce tells me that Levy is only speaking with Conte as he wants a decent recommendation on a new hair piece. Levy is rebranding himself to try and connect with fans and he's starting with new hair.

Expect Spurs to be linked with Klopp next as new teeth are also a part of the plan for a new & improved Levy.

It'll be interesting to see who you can snare to play in the European conference League... As you will be expected to win it
