It'll be interesting to see who you can snare to play in the European conference League... As you will be expected to win it
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Both managerial and playing staff... As Kane certainly won't be playing in it

World class managers can't make average teams great. Look at Ancelotti at Everton.
This is such a naive appointment, it's unreal. To think this is directly after Jose is staggering. Have we learned nothing?

You seem to be stuck on the idea that Conte and Jose are the same. They're really not.
Ancelotti and Jose are both past it though I don't understand why you keep raising these comparisons.

Conte is one of the very best coaches in the world, would be foolish to turn him down
Every man and his dog knew Jose was finished. Appointing Conte would actually strike a slight bit of fear in our rivals I think

Benitez could well turn up at Everton, too. That would be fun.
Well you can bookmark my comments and totally laugh at me if we end up storming the Premier League but my feeling is that this is the wrong appointment. Time will tell and obviously I'll totally back him should he be appointed but I'm nervous about someone so erratic working for Levy. Then there's the short term thing. And the lack of funds. There's so many reasons why this will doesn't make sense.
We'll see in 2 years I guess.
Conte's record speaks for itself.
As a manager who had managed at the top level for 10 years, 5 league titles with 3 teams is impressive especially as 2 in the last 10 years he was Italy manager and he also had a year off.
My worry would be:
1. He's apparently a bit of a difficult personality and who knows how this would go with Levy.
2. His style is not the most flamboyant, and the schizophrenic Spurs fanbase flip flop from trophies to style as being the most important.
3. He doesn't seem to stick around for long, so is he really a project kinda guy?

So what would you do ?
Pointless moaning about every name that comes along. Fact is, irrespective of your opinion of Spurs, they are a "big 6" club, who are in the top 12 highest valued clubs in Europe. They also DO spend money, just been rubbish choices. Which is different to NOT having money to compete somewhere near the top.
Why would a big name not wan't to manage Spurs. You make it sound like Torquay ( no offence ) are trying to get a manager on board.
the lack of funds
---
This is the big one for me. If he doesn't get money and the freedom to spend it how he likes, there's nothing to say it will work out. But it's not fair to say he won't work out because Jose didn't.
And besides, there isn't a banker out there. You can't say Poch would be any guarantee of success. Certainly not the likes of ten Hag or Potter. Whoever takes over is going to have to shift a few players and make some big signings. It's always a gamble. But it's one Conte has a track record (very recently) of getting right at the top level.
There's plenty to be concerned about with Conte but he's obviously not going to be a total failure like Jose
It's more a question of "is he going to be successful enough to justify signing a bunch of 33 year olds and delaying our project by another 2 seasons?" Rather than "is he going to be successful?

Kane is in the shop window, has ambition... I somehow don't imagine it's for the European conference League...if it is...you deserve to keep him
If Paratici going to Spurs is true I’d be more worried about him than Conte. He’s a big reason Juve are in the mess they are right now. Though Levy won’t give him carte blanche to piiiiiiss money up the wall like Agnelli did.

Levy has never signed 33 year olds.
Even with a DoF Levy will have final sign off and whoever comes in will be told that they will have to utilise the academy where possible and most signings will have potential rather than being the finished article.
I'm not anti-Conte, I'm just not seeing this as a good fit for our club. He's obviously a very good manager when he's given the tools. When he's not, largely for financial reasons, the gripes start. Our model is not set up for a manager of this type. If he's given a fortune to spend, it will work and happy days. But this is Levy. He never, ever budges on finances.
It's a very, very good square peg but it's about to enter a round hole.
I'm still holding out for Poch.

Fridge I'm intrigued what's your model...?
Also, the DoF is a strange one too. If you accept that his appointment is largely down to the fact that we've acquired Conte, then what happens in 2 years when Conte leaves? It feels like the DoF, supposedly in place for long term consistency, is in place to align well with a manager that won't be there long term.
