Doubtful. England had every advantage and still didn’t win a home tournament. Unless Southgate starts to trust his attacking players then when the real pressure is on his side will just rinse repeat like today.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
He doesn't have that mentality unless it's against really poor teams. It's like asking Mourinho to play expansive football. Wont happen under Southgate.
When chiesa came off he should’ve reacted - he sat on his thumbs instead

He's had two of the easiest runs to the final in the world cup and now in the euro's, the latter of which he had a huge home advantage with very little travel.
The only tricky game was against Germany but they are crap these days.
In the pressure matches against good teams he doesn't have the tactical edge.
Beating the likes of Panama, Ukraine and Denmark aren't good enough. Need to win the big games.
Don't get me wrong, he deserves praise but we always fall short for a reason. We were parking the bus for most of the game and still have cloggers like Rice and Phillips in midfield.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Harsh on Rice and Phillips, as both were very good tonight and not the problem at all. We needed to bring on another attacker for Mount much earlier than we did. And we needed not to bottle penalties again. That’s all.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Give up football mate if you think them two were good. It was mens Vs boys in midfield.
Jesus Christ what on earth did you watch? 😂
----------------------------------------------------------------------
First half they were good, lots of space because Shaw & Trippier were able to get forward a lot. Second half, almost none existent because we were penned back & had the FBs playing flat with the CBs.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
We had 34% of the ball.
If rash has scored his pen it would have been a different story probably
Guarantee he gets his contract extended until 2026 in the coming days.
Southgate will probably get knighted for this....... sickening,no wonder we never win anything.

Mancini utterly outclassed him. He made some subtle changes to get his attacking players into the game, and southgate didn’t have any counter for it.
Not surprising though, One of them has won tittles in multiple countries, while the other is a championship flop. I don’t know why I expect anything different.
Absolute facking ballocks.
England win the shootout and people would rightly be talking about him tactically more than matching up against a superior Italy side.
