Had anyone seen the article?
Is it definite that the article is negative?
I'm not familiar with The Spectator article.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Surely it can only be positive given that he currently sits at the very top of the Sunday Times’ Giving List having donated more to charity than any other single British individual through the pandemic?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
That list is a touch misleading, as while he has given a significant amount to charity, it hasn't all come from his personal wealth (and I don't expect it to!). A lot of it will have been donated to him from either companies or the general public, and from there, he's donated it. This is how he's managed to give like 20m to charity despite 'only' having 16m - and obviously he's not liquidated all of his assets to do this!
I don't doubt that other people on the list have done very similar things, and I'm not trying to say that it's a bad thing at all, just that context is important.
All of that said, Rashford should be practically untouchable by the media. They spend so long hyping footballers up to be these awful people who rake in shed loads of money and do nothing useful with it, that as soon as people come along who don't conform to that (and especially put their face on it!), they don't know what to do, except try to destroy it.
I suppose it's one reason that people like Mata & Henderson do a lot of their charitable work in the background, to not have to deal with this sheite.

Well my thought exactly. It would be commercial suicide to paint Rashford as someone in it for himself. I doubt anyone would begrudge him making some extra money along the way. đ¤ˇâď¸

If the ST are to be believed, he actually gave more money to charity last year than his current net wealth.

I've had the type of upbringing that has made me believe there are not that many good people in the world.
Don't trust many people, not even family.
People like rashford really make me happy.

This is really sad. Family SHOULD be the solid foundation that sets you up to face the world. This has actually got me contemplating on a wonderfully sunny afternoon.
Rashford is a very switched-on lad. I like the approach he takes and the fact he isn't afraid to challenge the statusquo in public. Whish more celebrities and athletes used their position of influence to do so, instead of cowering in the shadows or backing down afraid of losing sponsorship money.

That never occurred to me. Reading it again, you're probably right.
You're (maybe) not an idiot, Don.

either rr has been caught out by the old speech mark + close bracket = winking smiley, or he is advocating for more islamophobia in the tory party...you decide.

Arrghh the number of times I've done that over the years!

If only there was an edit button?
Rashford brings a tear to my eye every time I see stuff like this.
I've had the type of upbringing that has made me believe there are not that many good people in the world.
Don't trust many people, not even family.
People like rashford really make me happy.
If he turns out to be this kiddie fiddler, I'll never trust anyone again
Btw I know he isn't, that was just a sour attempt at humour.
Apologies if it offended.

Rashford should spend less time aligning with brands and more time learning how to take a penalty
