Ugh. You look at our lineup and you can't help thinking we'd do well to scrape a win against teams like Sri Lanka or West Indies at the minute. We're as weak as I can remember in my whole time watching cricket (since 2005). Craig Overton is never going to be the answer until he discovers a way to magic up an extra 7-8mph of consistent pace. I'd have much preferred Mahmood.
And the batting... Well. Malan is probably the best next cab off the rank but I do wonder if Sam Hain will ever get a look in. Shame we can't accurately judge anyone's red ball form since no-one has played it in months
----------------------------------------------------------------------
It's amazing and a shame that Craig is about 10 mph slower than his twin brother although it does mean he stays fit.
Hain is an unbelievably good white ball cricketer. His List A average is like 60, I don't know why he didn't get a look in for that Pakistan series. I think his FC record stacks up similar to most of our batsmen in the country somewhere in the 30s. More of a 4/5 type as well but I'm surprised he's not featured for England in any format as yet.

Dropped for Malan. Hameed promoted to open. Crawley was also released from the squad as both have been taken out of the firing line that is batting in England's test team.
I had a meeting for 15 mins between the wickets. I've seen 7 balls this morning and 2 wickets

Exactly. It makes no sense considering I'm fairly sure Craig is actually slightly taller than Jamie too.
Hain has the best List A average of all time I think? At this point we've tried calling up the best white ball players in the hope that they'll make the transition to tests, and we've also tried the best County players in the hopes that they'll step up. Neither has worked, so I think the selectors are now basically just going by trial and error until something clicks

Sibley has had a fair run and has been progressively getting worse. With the Ashes coming up, I can understand why he got the chop as you fear for him in Australia.
Perhaps keeping Crawley in the side to open with Burns might have been a good idea as he could be a good option opening there but he was averaging like 10 this year and that's not sustainable to stay in the side.

Need at least one more this morning. The threat level will drop sharply when the ball ages and if Rohit and Kohli are set they could definitely make us pay later on.
Virat doing a cracking Crawley impersonation this series.
Jimmy getting his revenge now. What a machine.
