Anderson and Broad are now past their best, if they are going to be our opening bowlers in the Ashes, we are in for a very painful series.

Butler is not a Test match batsman and never has been, Bairstow should be the Test wicket keeper as he is the better Test player.

Sibley, Crawley and Lawrence are also not good enough at Test level.

Harry Brook should be given a chance, that lad can really bat.

We will get our aris rayped in the Ashes looking at what is available.

Broad and Anderson may be past their very best but they're still the best we have.

Bairstow is not the answer. Please, please, look at his stats since 2019. Even before you consider his terrible attitude, the guy simply isn't good enough. And he has a ridiculously exploitable technical failing in that he can't play straight bowling.

I agree re. Sibley, Crawley and Lawrence, though all three have shown enough to suggest that they're better than the other available options.

Yes, we will get bummed in the Ashes.

Bored of seeing Broad and Anderson in the team now. They’ll keep playing until they’re 40 and we’re still gonna bend over for them because they’re legends. Just tell them they’re too old and move them on.

Why Broad and Anderson needs to go is beyond me.. You need to look at the amount of runs the tests batsmen have scored in the 3/4 years. dozens and dozens of collapses.

They don't need to go. You don't fix the batting by changing the bowling.

I’m just firing off at anyone at this stage, bored of the lot of them.

Gonna get slaughtered in Aus

It's true that we do need some sort of plan for after they finally do lose their edge, mind you

Bairstow gets treated badly though, he is up and down the order and in and out of the team, despite being the best keeper - batsman we have. There is no wonder his form has suffered.

He may have some technical issues, but the players taking his place are even worse, and yet they are persisted with.

I dont care about Aus . its this series. we have NEVER lost to an Indian test team at home in a 4/5 test match series.
This would be a huge kick in the teeth..We should compete against India at home.. Get anywhere upwards of 300 batting first you always have a chance. 183 is simply not enough

He's not even remotely the best keeper/bat we have. He's a worse bat than Buttler on test form in the past 3 years, and he's the weakest keeper of the three options (Foakes being the 3rd). Foakes is a MILES better pure keeper than either Buttler or Bairstow.

And the reason Bairstow is in and out of the team is because he's been terrible for 3 years. Well, that's why he keeps being dropped. Why he keeps being recalled when he has zero form is beyond me.

have you noticed why India keep getting the ball down past the gully down to the 3rd man ?its because like there. their batsmen are pushing forward. Our players hardly come forward. thats why the ball goes towards the slips and gets caught or stopped.

And yet Butler is picked regardless, despite having zero Test technique and a poor record, he is a one day slogger stealing a living as a Test player.

Lazy criticism. Buttler's average is SIGNIFICANTLY higher than Bairstow's since he was recalled. He's been one of our best-performing bats since he was brought back into the side. Not saying much in the grand scheme, but the old "he's a t20 slogger" line is very outdated

Can’t talk much about technique when you’ve got Sibley and Burns opening up.

Poor bloke. He'll have wanted to play in the T20 but I'm sure he'd have been keen to play on those pitches down under. He's only 26 so hopefully can make a comeback next summer but just seems to be different parts of his body breaking down.

Archer out the Ashes too.

Genuinely what are the odds on 5-0? Surely its virtually printing money at this stage.

Anderson is in the best shape he's ever been fitness wise and still bowling as well as he ever has done. 17 wickets at an average of 22.82 this year, 23 wickets at 20.48 last year. I don't see how you can't pick him.

Broad's not been quite so good this year but the 2 years prior he was arguably bowling as well as he ever has.

For some reason when we fail with the bat, Anderson and Broad's places in the side are questioned. Yeah they might not be the best guys to take to the Ashes but for a home test match series, I'd still have them as 2 of my 3/4 seamers.

Can't see the odds on margin of victory but the Aussies are only 4/9 to win the Ashes with B365. Surprising.
