220/6 with Pope and Mo playing excellently and then Mo throws his wicket away trying to attack instead of grinding them down.
Should really have had a 150+ run lead.

Indeed although Woakes was going nicely before Pope got out in a pretty similar sort of way to Root today. All in all, I think we came back pretty well after being 62/5 to score nearly 300 and get a 100 run lead.
Worth noting that despite their top order response, we had them effectively 200 ish /6 before Pant and Thakur played sensible knocks to take the game away from us again. If we were chasing 250ish with more time in the match then it would have been game on.
Thakur has probably been the difference in this match with what he has delivered and when.

Virat is better captain than most of the captains out there...look at his tactics, bowling changes, decision to bring on young fielders on to keep pressure on....Root is quality player but way to defensive.

It's been a mix, the bowling has been very good all day on what is still a decent pitch, Bumrah has been exceptional but that doesn't take anything away from the fact that some of the batting hasn't been good enough today. Since the dismissal of Burns, England haven't looked comfortable today and that's to India's credit.
It’s a dead pitch. Apart from the Burns delivery (which was unplayable) I think England and most teams would be disappointed to lose 7 wickets in a session like they did. That’s nothing against Indian bowling, bumrah especially.
