It's been a great transfer window this time, as far as you can judge a transfer window without the players you've bought playing any games.
I also don't think the length of time you've spent chasing a player negates the achievement of finally signing him, that's a new one to the world of football discussion.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
It does a bit if you're judging the new recruitment setup. The negotiations started before the changes lin hierarchy. We need more samples to judge the new setup—that's what I'm saying.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
So the fact that we've landed the two top targets, and landed them quickly is in no way a reflection of good business because we'd enquired about one of them last year and the other one had a year left on his contract?
That's a reach that's looking for the most negative interpretation you can think of. As usual.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
It's what he does. As I said, must be a miserable existence looking at everything so negatively.

Wow, you really are brilliant at misunderstanding.
The deals are fantastic, but I mentioned 'new recruitment setup' as my context. Is this new setup a success? Too early to tell.

Have we really been better at transfers this summer?
Sancho was always happening, as we've been after him for a year.
We got lucky with Varane—one year left on his contract, and supposedly only wanted to join Utd.
Still to early to tell if we've improved at this, I think.
I mentioned it in my previous post, not my original one—how can you not see it?!
That's why my last line says it's too early to judge any improvements (whether the new setup is much better than the last).
Now go ahead and misunderstand this comment as well.

No misunderstanding, you say you referenced the new recruitment team in the comment I've been quoting, and you didn't. You know the one, the one where you said landing Sancho and Varane isn't that impressive because we enquired after one last year, and the other had a year left on his contract.
"you say you referenced the new recruitment team in the comment I've been quoting, and you didn't"
No, in the comment you replied to. The chain of comments is right there to see. You didn't quote my original comment until after.
And I didn't say it wasn't impressive. Just that you can't judge a new recruitment team on only two deals.

The discussion I was having was the clubs done well in securing the top two targets so early, which differed from yours, which was it was nothing special as we enquired about Sancho last year and Varane had a year left on his contract.
I've never mentioned structural changes. Go check - the chain of comments is right there to see.
No, you didn't, I did.

This is painful. It’s quite obvious the point of contention was your question about us being better at transfers this summer.
Nobody is arguing that the changes in structure are a success, Elvis clearly states that it seems to be working well so far, and long may that continue.
There’s no declarative statements or implied arguments as to how successful they are going to be, it’s obvious the comment is on the work done so far - of which you’ve questioned the validity of that claim. Which is what people are arguing with you about.
