Spurs have always been a mess when rotating and can never get the balance right like other teams that win stuff do.
Rotating and giving other players game time is important as well as resting other players, but piecing together a random side can look good before it kicks off cause we are intrigued to see players we don't see often, however forget how it's guaranteed disjointed clueless football.
The club haven't helped themselves with being this late in the transfer window with so many futures of players up in the air, as well as 2 or 3 key positions still to bring in new additions to improve the squad.

Phenom, every other team seem to be able to rotate to a certain extent and win games like this comfortably. Whenever Spurs play all the squaddies together it always ends in defeat.
Now lots of the first XI will have to start next week to rescue the tie. What is the point. May as well have played them all tonight, and put the game to bed, then all the squaddies could have played next week.
I bet Nuno is not particularly bothered, it’s 1-0 at half time and we’ve rested for the weekend.
Next week it’s Pacos at home followed by Watford at home, I suspect we will start a much stronger line up next week and go through comfortably
It's a pointless tournament. Fully with Nuno for not wasting first X1 players on it.
Give the tournament to reserves. If they can't even get past the qualifiers then they don't deserve any first team football.

Yes we probably will, but it is alarming how poor the squad players are as a whole. Winks, Lo Celso, Doherty, Sessignon, Davies should be absolutely bossing games like this, that they don`t shows how poor they really are.

Yes mate that's what I was getting at.
I did think tonight would be tough but expected at least a shot on target
Think we might just scrape through with a less rotated side next week. Will still be some rotation, but the changing of midfield and defence completely, especially, is a big hinderrance to the balance.
Worrying like you say that players you think you could trust to be rotated in like Romero and Lo Celso disappointed also. Will cut the former more slack as it was his first start.

Sandy it’s far better to play the first team in the home leg, no travel so far less taxing. I expect us to put a performance in against Wolves now and then the reverse fixture will be waiting for us followed by another home game that following weekend.

The issue is the midfield, without Hojbjerg we look lost. We need another CM with some guts who can grab a game by the scruff of the neck. Winks is the most passive player I have ever seen, he has to go.

Our squad depth isn't very good. Last year Jose played Son and Kane to get through against the farmers. This eventually killed the season as the star players were knackered.
Would much rather we focussed on the league with a strong first team and bin off this awful competition.

This is what I’ve said about Romero all along. Can’t expect a 23 year old with no PL experience to come in and turn around a defence full of donkeys.
I 100% don’t blame Nuno for going weak. This is a joke competition and the fact you have to play facking qualifiers for it in August(!) is absurd. The players put out were just poor on the night, majority of them have hardly played together or in a Spurs shirt before.

All of our youngsters were poor tonight as well, that`s the problem. Dane Scarlett on his own up front is not going to do anything. He needs to be paired with one of Son and Kane, then he may have a chance. But he was totally lost tonight, and received zero service.

I honestly think we should just do a fire sale, £5m each and get the wages off the books. You can’t tell me that we don’t have academy players who would have given us more tonight

All of our youngsters were poor tonight as well, that`s the problem. Dane Scarlett on his own up front is not going to do anything. He needs to be paired with one of Son and Kane, then he may have a chance. But he was totally lost tonight, and received zero service.
