What is the point of Spurs being in this

We've had an awful window so far. The only first X1 player, Romero, by all accounts had a mare today. He'll take time to get up to speed, whilst we sold our best CB for peanuts, so get used to Dier/Sanchez for the foreseeable.

Nuno will get us organised and fighting, which should get us more competitive like v City. However, over a long season we are in desperate need of reinforcements.

Let’s see where we are when the window closes and reassess

Romero was poor, but cannot really judge him with some of the clowns he had around him. I am sure if he partners Sanchez and has PEH in front of him, he will be fine.

I've often said that if you are going to play one or two youth players it should be in a team that is strong and confident. That gives them the best chance of shining.

When you put them in with squad players who are less confident and tired (not physical sense but mentally - as in been too long at spurs) then they have less of a chance.

I mean look at Skip on Sunday against Man City. Had a shaky start but grew into the game and then did not look out of place.

Transfer market is open for 10 more days, let’s reassess on 31st of August. We can moan that we should act quicker in the market but let’s face it we never do and we’re currently playing a game of poker with City over Kane - so i expect most the action will happen next Thursday/Friday

Be absolutely stupid for Spurs to sell Kane now with just 10 days of the window left, you’re not gonna find a quality replacement in time.

The club should have drawn a line under the Kane situation by now - it’s too late for us to lose him and reinvest effectively. City should’ve been given a deadline to meet a specific asking price and once that deadline was gone, the deal was off. That would also make it clear to Kane whether they want him or not. But, more importantly we would know our budget and timeframes - currently everything feels up in the air because as you say we are playing poker with them. Jose was sacked in April. Paratici joined 1st July. Yet, we have hardly moved forward, if at all. It’s a shambles and I won’t hear otherwise.

This isn’t Levy’s modus operandi when making big sales isn’t it? Did the same with Bale, Modric and Berbatov.

Honestly not sure this particular trophy is worth bothering with, regardless of the current Spurs trophy drought.

It's a shame your reserves didn't do themselves any favours but you've rightfully got higher priorities than this

I doubt it. Man City at home is one of the easiest games of the season mate

We win it every year, Pep seems tactically inept in the fixture as we play the same counter attacking game every time and win.

The same Sanchez that has given away numerous penalties and own goals in the last 18 months, made lots of individual errors and turned himself into a meme by face planting the floor? Yeah, he’s just the rock that Romero needs to help settle him in.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Agreed Ace. I’m sorry Sandy, but I’m not putting Sanchez on a pedestal like you because he had 1 bloody good game mate. The fact we go into this Wolves game hoping to recall Dier and Sanchez as our centre backs is all I need too know. Truly atrocious planning and window so far. The defence should of been strengthened throughout and sorted for the new season. Instead whilst Romero is settling, we have the 2 donkeys as our 1st choice partnership. I’m telling everyone now, they are both not good enough and will get found out. A great performance v City, but even Moussa Sissoko has had the odd corker of a game. How have we got too this stage where Sanchez and Dier are our preferred partnership ?

Romero will clearly be first choice once he is up to speed. Sanchez has not covered himself in glory the last couple of years, but other than Son and Kane, who has. Sanchez is still young enough to improve. Tanganga looks well up for it and Rodon had a good Euros.

Our issue in my opinion lies in Midfield where for me we have arguably the weakest options of all sides in the top 10

All the comments above about squad depth are correct.
The squad we have ATM is a total joke.
Here are the guys you may be able to depend upon:
Lloris , Gollini
Tanganga, Rodon, Davies?, Dier?, Reguilon, Aurier? Sanchez?, Doherty?
Lo Celso, Moura, Hojbjerg, Sissoko? Alli
Son, Bergwijn, Kane

New and untested: Romero, Gil, Scarlett, Parrot,
Any name with a "?" means that player is either not dependable or should have been traded, or both.

I count exactly 12 names without "?".

6 names with "?"
And 4 new or untested guys.
That is a total of 22 players 10 of which are questionable.
And I have included Kane.

Can we even put out an unquestionable first eleven?
And what happens with a couple of injuries?
This squad is way too thin to enter a new season in the Premiere League.
Unless there is some last minute great trading, I expect this season to be a disaster for the club.

I think this is it.

Regardless of what we think the club has clearly said fack it. What will be, will be. If we cared about the competition we would've at least had Son on the bench. The money must be a pittance.

LOL it didn't take Ted long, to say the whole season would be a disaster.

No it won't Ted, not if the manager mixes and matches. Spurs can navigate the cup competitions if they mix and match a bit. They don't have to go completely reserve like last night. They can at least have two or three of the better players available for the cup games. No excuse why any of them cannot play twice a week.

The two donkeys you were cheering on Sunday Don, give it a rest. You don't know Romero is going to be better at all. Going from last night, he isn't. But it is early days, so he needs to settle in, then we will judge him.

I think we can both agree though that Winks is a pub player, as are Davies and Doherty.
