Looks like I might be able to make my FCB article sooner than I expected!

One of my clients has errrrm, placed me on temporary leave that may become permanent!
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Sorry to hear that, Culer.

If it's any consolation, I think you have a bright future as an internet content generator.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Some bloody soft woman has kicked off about the way I was on a video meeting, something to do with how I made her feel.

Suspended....
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Did you introduce yourself as Benjamin Mendy
----------------------------------------------------------------------
No not at all.

Basically I was doing a morning meeting with one of my sales teams.

I always insist on video meetings that everyone has their camera on, so I can monitor my staff and see what they're doing.

A girl wouldn't put her camera on and I got a bit annoyed. I suppose you could say I singled her out but I made it clear that all of the other team members had their camera's on so she had to have it on too.

Anyway I told her it was really not on (I said she was a disgrace) that she wasn't putting the camera on and kicked her out of the meeting. Then she rejoined the link a few minutes later and put her camera on. OK she looked visibly upset and she's got a newborn baby but that isn't my issue.

Next thing she's gone and told HR the reason why she wasn't putting her camera on is because she was breastfeeding, hadn't slept well due to baby crying and when I was tearing into her it really made her feel useless.

Sorry but it's not my issue. She should've just messaged me on GoogleChat to say she couldn't attend.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Did you know she recently had a baby?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Well yeah because I apparently pressured her into not having her full maternity leave.

Don't see the issue. She can WFH and look after her baby whilst working.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Dude this is on you. you are screw#d.

Dude, you have got literally no awareness, how the fvck are you someone's boss ffs. There are a million better ways to get to the bottom of why the camera wasn't on rather than calling her out in front of the team

Change the title of the OP to Culers’ employment assessed.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I am not in the wrong. She can WFH and look after the baby. Her Mum can help her or something.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
It's not really us you need to convince, it's your HR people. Or maybe the employment tribunal assessors.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
If they dismiss me then I am going after them. Seriously I have grown that company so much and I can afford a much better employment lawyer than them.

If I do get a warning then I am making sure that woman in question is moved to another department or let go.

You are 100% not in the right, and unless having the camera on is in her contract (and even then, dude, use your fvcking brain), you've got no leg to stand on.

You sound like a sheite manager

Do it. Employment law shouldn't apply to winners. We wouldnt have Got Brexit Done if everyone was like these employees.

If one member of the team isn't pulling their weight then they are counter productive and disrespecting the team members who do pull weight.

Simple.

Not pulling her weight? This was apparently over 2 things, one being a camera not being on, which is irrelevant to the work, unless she was supposed to be actively showing something physically, like on a whiteboard or something, and the other thing being you pressuring her not to take maternity leave, which, fvck you if that's the case. That's not 'not pulling weight' that's littledick manager syndrome

No your honour, I didn't retaliate, I merely fired the woman who complained about me for completely unrelated things

This reminds me of the time you told us you'd sacked a female employee in Gibraltar on a Zoom call.

Why do female employees/video conferencing scenarios feature so heavily in these constructs?

HR wouldn't touch getting rid of her with a mile long pole. You're not getting rid of someone who just had a baby, and who has filed complaints about your management & who has been pressured to not take maternity leave. That's like begging her to take the company to court ffs

These make belief careers sound even more stressful than actual jobs ffs.

Sorry but if every member of the team except one is willing to commit, then the person who won't commit is a problem.

She agreed to cancel it though so how can she say she was pressured?? Gave birth in May, then when we got into June the sales took a downfall and my projections forecast that it would get worse in July and August.

I asked her to cut it short and have more flexibility WFH so it wouldn't affect time with her baby that much.

She agreed.

And she could've told me that before she joined the meeting. Poor planning on her part, not a fault of mine.

So basically she had a conversation with her boss, where he said that the numbers are all down and it could get worse, please cut your maternity short.

I'm sure she definitely wasn't thinking that if she didn't you'd find a way to make her redundant. Definitely under no pressure.

You sound like a sheite boss
