I'm not naming names, but I can think of RB's who can defend better than what Wan-Bissaka does but it seems to be the case now where the emphasis on full backs is to be a more potent threat going forward than their defensive duties really. Wan-Bissaka has improved going forward granted, but he's still not close to the best in the world at this either.

I think TOOR has had a memory lapse of just how well Liverpools squad did not cope last season. And we have strengthened ours where they really have not.

Struggled into third with unprecedented injuries to the one position then the midfielders who moved into that position also getting injured. Despite this, we still were the third best team, which shows the quality of the squad.

'a way to go' seems a bit biased to me. I think we can agree a midfielder is needed but if you drop N'didi into that first 11, is it 'way off' Liverpool? I think only someone being mischievous or just incapable of overcoming their bias would say both first 11s are on different levels.
I don't think we collapse to teams like Fulham, Brighton and Newcastle even if we play Mctominay and Tuanzebe at the back. In fact we scored 3 against Newcastle with Smalling and Mctominay at the back. I think last season actually showed Liverpool are pretty fragile in terms of depth and Klopp really struggled to adapt which could have been partly down to circumstance, he had some personal things happening at the same I believe? Quality first 11 but I think of the 4 teams in the discussion, Liverpool are most likely to blame any bad patches on injuries rather than poor performances.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Probably not. I don't think we collapse if we play Gomez and Fabinho at the back either.
However if we get all our centre backs injured then the two central midfielders injured also, at the same time, therefore weakening the whole central area, then we may. Although I doubt that unprecedented situation would occur again.
No I don't think if you drop Ndidi into United the midfield is way off.
Although when you are better in every area, Goalkeeper, defence, midfield and attack, I'd say 'some way off' is about right.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
So deluded😂😂. Liverpool finish below us with all those superior first team and squad players last season. Then we add three first teamers this summer while Liverpool did nothing and we are still way off?
I’ll admit that Liverpool has the potential to sneak past us, but there is no chance of them finishing top 2. IMO they are the most likely to drop out of top 4.
Also I love how Liverpool fans think they won’t suffer injuries this season given Klopp’s well documented history of burning out players.

Let's be fair, I think most teams would struggle for depth when you have your 3 first team squad CB's injured. You can only have a squad so big at the end of the day.
In a theoretical world, that would be the case, practically though it does not work out that the team with the better players finishes above the team with worse players on paper at least.

Utd finished 4 points ahead of us in their best season in a long time and worst for us in a long time and when we had never seen before injuries.
VVD alone staying fit would have been worth more than 4 points and would have had us finishing above United, that's without mentioning Matip, Hendo, Fabinho, Keita, Ox and the other kabillion eighty injuries we suffered.
United fans comparing their best with our worst and working themselves into a frenzy.
Also, claiming that Mane is declining? Let's compare notes at the end of the season. I'll be surprised if more than 2 United players outscore Mane. Probably only Rinaldo will outscore him.
Mane may be in decline or whatever pleases you but United still have no one at his level except Ronaldo and a few players with the unproven potential to reach that level.

Yet after winning the CL and PL in consecutive seasons you felt there was quality to win the league the following season.
The unprecedented injuries to every centre back and the midfielders brought in to cover them changed that?
I wouldn't say that's a lack of quality in the squad, just we had no squad members left in the one position as they were all injured, as well as others in another position who had to cover them.
I mean should we have had 7 top centre backs going into the season?

But no squad will ever be capable of dealing with all of their first team CB's being injured at one time along with two thirds of a starting midfield, who also played at CB because of the injuries, that were missing as well.
Going by your logic, you'd just have an unlimited amount of players for each position just in case the others got injured, unfortunately you cannot do that.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
you're slightly double counting here, it was no one's decision but your manager's to sell your 4th choice CB (and one of your youth prospects), not replace him, and leave a midfielder as 4th choice.
going into a uniquely demanding season with 3 senior CBs, 2 of whom had been moderately injury prone in the past, was poor squad management, so whilst your injuries were unlucky, they affected you more than most because of the thinness of your squad (united for instance had 5 senior CBs last season, most clubs will have 4+)
but you can't have a manager implicitly say that fabinho is 4th choice CB, then moan endlessly when he ends up playing CB
People say it as if Lovren would have made that much of a difference. A youth prospect would have never have been able to cope at that level, Rhys Williams couldn't cope at that level to argue that point.
It's all well and good saying United have 5 CB's, City have 3 etc, neither club would have coped with their first choice CB's being injured and losing two thirds of their midfield. It doesn't matter how deep your squad is, you're never going to be as good, that goes for City as well.
The fact the club managed to finish 3rd with the injuries as well as the poor home form and poor season in general is a testament to the squad and I don't think having a 4th choice CB would have improved that position personally.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
No. You're just failing to understand that there is a difference of all players in the one position being injured and having a squad not deep enough. We had five first team players play at centre back last season, two of them natural midfielders. The three actual centre backs got put out for the season. The two midfielders who had to step in got injured.
You're effectively stating that unless we had 7 top centre backs going into the season, the squad wasn't deep enough which is ridiculous as nobody has that.
Once again, unprecedented injuries in the one position. Not a few players injured in several positions which depth can cover. There is a huge difference. If we had them spread, which depth can cover, I think we would have won the league as you predicted, as it happened they were all in the one position and we dropped two places. We have now brought in another top defender in that position and therefore should be even better set than last season.
United fans are weird.

I think TOOR has had a memory lapse of just how well Liverpools squad did not cope last season. And we have strengthened ours where they really have not.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Struggled into third with unprecedented injuries to the one position then the midfielders who moved into that position also getting injured. Despite this, we still were the third best team, which shows the quality of the squad.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
It showed the lack of quality. Otherwise you would have finished above us and had a longer run in the cups.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Utd finished 4 points ahead of us in their best season in a long time and worst for us in a long time and when we had never seen before injuries.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Oh dear oh dear. Rashford is twice the player of Mane. So is Greenwood.

VC - didn't you predict Liverpool for the league last season.
…..
Yes. Your lack of quality in your squad proved my prediction wrong.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yet after winning the CL and PL in consecutive seasons you felt there was quality to win the league the following season.

And I was wrong as was proved once we saw how deep your squad really was. Not sure how you are helping your case here. You are quite literally proving everyone else’s.

Any squad would’ve struggled with that amount of injuries

You are not the only team to have ever suffered injuries.
Your squad was clearly not good enough to deal with it.
The amount of dipshitery some of you lot come out with is staggering.

No squad would be good enough to deal with it. Do you think if United had the same injuries they’d cope just fine?

But no squad will ever be capable of dealing with all of their first team CB's being injured at one time along with two thirds of a starting midfield, who also played at CB because of the injuries, that were missing as well.
Going by your logic, you'd just have an unlimited amount of players for each position just in case the others got injured, unfortunately you cannot do that.

you're slightly double counting here, it was no one's decision but your manager's to sell your 4th choice CB (and one of your youth prospects), not replace him, and leave a midfielder as 4th choice.
going into a uniquely demanding season with 3 senior CBs, 2 of whom had been moderately injury prone in the past, was poor squad management, so whilst your injuries were unlucky, they affected you more than most because of the thinness of your squad (united for instance had 5 senior CBs last season, most clubs will have 4+)
but you can't have a manager implicitly say that fabinho is 4th choice CB, then moan endlessly when he ends up playing CB
