Agreed.
Said long before it looked a remote possibility that he would return that I thought it would be a bad idea.
What we’re now stuck with is a guy in his mid 30’s who more often than not is really beginning to look his age. Yes he’s scored goals but the majority have been goalkeeping errors.
Id rather see a front 3 of Rashford, Greenwood and Sancho for much of the season.
He would be a great signing if we had a proper midfield behind him and didn’t have to carry him. He was the same in 2008 and we had to carry him then but the difference was that we had hard working players all over the pitch to overcome his shortcomings.

We certainly had to carry him then. Here Gary Neville confirming it…
“With it comes big positives, but with it also comes problems. Ronaldo had to be managed shall we say," Neville told The Overlap. "In the 2008 Barcelona semi-final away from home, Cristiano Ronaldo was shoved up front on his own, and Rooney and Ji-Sung Park were shoved wide, and [Carlos] Tevez was brought back to [mark] Sergio Busquets.
“With it comes big positives, but with it also comes problems. Ronaldo had to be managed shall we say,"
“You couldn't carry him in the big games because he generally doesn't work hard enough.”
“So he's playing up front now - you're never going to press from the front. So the idea that Manchester United can become a pressing team with Cristiano up front is never going to happen. He wasn't pressing 10-15 years ago.”
This team conceding pi** poor goals just this past game had nothing to do with Ronaldo and everything to do with a mediocre manager and mediocre defender in Maguire

Ronaldo or not doesn't change the fact we keep giving away silly goals. It was happening long before he came.
I just think we're far too predictable as it stands. Nothing seems to change from week to week.
I generally agree that Ronaldo is an issue but I’ll wait until the next manager before binning off Ronaldo. Conte might just get more out of him as he has more of an idea about how to set up a team than Ole. I actually think Ronaldo in a 352 might be better.

It is absolutely ridiculous to come to this conclusion in 5/6 games. It is also ridiculous to compare this season to last. The fans are back in Stadiums, it was inevitable this away record going this season. The manager has made the team worse because the pressure is now high and it is clear as day he is out of his depth
Not a Ronaldo issue at all, probably one of the last things on the endless list of issues we have at the club. The lack of coaching and service is a bigger problem currently.

Ronaldo will actually save you from this nightmare.
Without him he would have been able to hide behind the excuses of Sancho needing time to settle, Rashford's injury etc...
If we did not buy Ronaldo this season, chances are we would've gone into this season with Sancho as our marquee signing. If anyone here thinks that this team would've been doing any better without the signing of Ronaldo, I suggest you wake up
Ronaldo's got his pluses and minuses, but there are man aspects about the utd team that are just minuses.
Playing Ronaldo presents a tactical challenge that your manager is ill equipped to deal with.
You can have more than one problem in a team. Ronaldo has come into a team with existing problems, but he has exacerbated them. We weren't good at pressing, and now we have a player who is in the lowest percentile for pressing who will occupy a place in the side at the expense of a player who will run much more than him. We have a poor build-up structure and a poor / incoherent midfield that can't dominate possession and create lots of chances, and now we have a striker (apparently undroppable) who is good at finding pockets of space and finishing but not capable of creating something out of nothing or making lung-bursting runs to create gaps for others.
Without Ronaldo we'd still be held back by the absurd failure to recruit elite CMs, by the problem that you can only get the best out of Fernandes in a 4-2-3-1 and only the best out of Pogba in a 4-3-3, and by Solskjaer's shortcomings as a manager. But the recruitment of Sancho and Varane this summer at least gave us the option of having more dynamism, fluidity and strength in depth in attack, together with the opportunity to play a little bit further up the pitch. Having Ronaldo in the side undermines both of those. If he really were the goal-scoring monster who only needs one chance to score, then the trade-off would probably be worth it. But we've seen a few games already where it hasn't worked out that way (in addition to games where he scored but we were awful and should have lost anyway).
Put it another way, if we'd channelled that Ronaldo investment into a good DM (Soumaré was very good for Leicester on Saturday, recruited from Lille for just £17m, following the excellent purchases of Ndidi and Tielemans) I think we'd be in a better position right now.
I dont think so. Its not like we were playing with any discernible style that Ronaldo has come in and ruined. He is a moments player in a moments team.
That being said, I did and still do think his signing wasn't a good idea. I really don't think the gap between 36 year old Ronaldo at CF and Cavani is that big, and if I'm honest I prefer the latter for his workrate up there.
Put it this way, if Ronaldo hadn't played for us 12 years ago we wouldn't have signed him this time around. It wasn't a signing based on any real strategy.

Very true, in some ways Ronaldo was a peak Ole signing. As you say, our main style of play is ‘let the talented player save our ass out of nowhere’.
I don't think he is the problem, I just don't think he was the solution in the summer. But when Ronaldo becomes available, how do you pass that opportunity up to sign somebody of that quality?
United needed a holding midfielder, or certainly an upgrade on what is there currently. I did feel they needed a CF as well because I wasn't convinced that Cavani and Greenwood would be consistent enough between them for a number of reasons, but I think they needed that deeper midfielder more than they needed Ronaldo.
If Ole gets until January or next summer, if he does invest in that area and they improve tactically, I can see them winning something, but I just can't see that at the moment.
Ronaldo is not our problem. He scores goals everywhere he goes, whatever the system he plays in, except under Ole, where there is no system. People still refuse to see that our manager is an embarrassment.

He was heading to City. If that happened, I mean Guardiola is about 8 levels about Ole, but we may as well have conceded we won't be challenging for the title. Now, these know it alls telling us we should not have got him. City would've gladly welcomed him en route to the title

Idiots will say anything to hide the fact that we’re managed by a clown.
Now that Rashford is back, let's bench Ronaldo and launch balls over the top for Rashford to chase. He can then either score or get a pen. Then we can bring Ronaldo on to take the pen and sub him off again after. It will keep everyone happy and fully utilise Ronaldo to the max of his current ability.
He definitely limits you in some ways. You'd think a better manager could get around those issues but is it really worth it when his shelf life is likely only a season or two at most.
As an impact sub and someone to learn off for other players he'd probably make more sense right now under Ole. You've got an exciting, young front line that could play great, fast paced football but they need to be trusted and have the team built to their strengths
