Nothing should be off limits for mockery, but some religious lunatics can’t handle that and think killing the person who mocks will make their insane beliefs more credible
----------------------------------------------------------------------
It can be off limits on here to mock another person for their beliefs.

And where did the gigantic being come from?

Why does there have to be a creator?

Why can what we have not have just happened by pure a freak incident/s?

----------------------------------------------------------------------
If that's possible then a creator could also have just happened by pure freak incident.

Because the human psyche isn’t really able to cope with the concept of randomness. The self importance of human beings is completely thrown into question, it’s an existential head fack that even the most content of people struggle with.

Well to take eternity, it means for ever, so matter was here a million years ago, a million trillion years ago and will be here the same in the future.
-----
But everything comes from somewhere so where did matter come from?
_____________________________________________
It came from a sigularity.. has for what happened before that.. No one knows.. But there is no absolute nothing. otherwise they would be nothing.. Its only theists that want to include their god in the equation.where i accept things exist and theres doesnt need need to be a reason
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Where did the singularity come from? Everything comes from somewhere. Thats the human stance and in line with our science. Anything that exists without an origin is basically magical, not scientific.

If you accept that matter can just exist and you don't need a reason then why not apply the same rationale to God? and believers don't need a reason too. They don't need to prove his existence just like you don't need to demonstrate the origin of matter. If one thing (matter) can just exist then anything else conceivable can also just exist, no?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
And that's why I'm agnostic

posted on 26/10/21

The problem is that us just existing isn't random. That would make us special. Why us and why in the manner we exist? Are we the first to just exist? Couldn't something else also just exist?

posted on 26/10/21

So why just us? What else is just existing like us? If we just exist then the possibilities are endless, including a God that just exists.

I do not consider myself religious. Was brought up in the Catholic Church but have a variety of views completely at odds with the church.

I do believe in a higher power but not as described in religious text.

Basically I believe we were created by higher life forms (like the Engineers from Prometheus) and are in a scientific experiment.

They will return at some point to exterminate us.

It is indeed! I remember reading about him in school. There was a book I bought around that time from M & S about mysteries. Casper Hauser was in it too and the ghost of Berkeley Square.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I had 2 of his books as a lad - Chariots of the Gods and Aliens from Space - complete believer as a boy!!!

I've just tried to read a précis of Stephen Hawking's no-boundary theory of the universe where there's no beginning, middle or end, so the concept of a singularity is meaningless and it's melted my head.

Why didn't the boogeyman just exist? What's so special about us that existence chose us alone?

posted on 26/10/21

But the universe if infinite so by proxy every permutation is possible.

For example I just scored against Everton and sniffed the line opposite the Everton fans. Good finish tbf.

Everyone mocks Culer on a daily basis for believing that Ole is the man to bring United success, but you're not allowed to mock someone for believing in invisible tooth fairy god nonsense?

I don’t believe in a God. I believe that in 25-30 giga years the universe will die a heat death and cease to exist. There will be no trace of our planet, solar system or galaxy. It will be as if we never existed, for eternity.

That’s just how it is. That’s why life is precious.

I believe the morals that some religious texts teach are worthy, but the same morals can be taught by parents and society.

Religion should be taught in schools but it should be presented as a history module rather than a standalone subject. Christianity, Islam, Scientology - these things are no more grounded in reality than Norse mythology or Mithraism.

I got an idea for the religious and the agnostic to ponder. The universe in which we live could just be a booger in some gigantic being's nose. Any minute now, we could be picked and flicked and everything would end.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Why would everything end?

We'd just land in the dirt somewhere.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Would be 'interesting' were that to happen, that we'd been 'flicked' presumably out of our orbit with changing temperature and gravity and only hours for everyone left.

I bet there'd still be some idiots running out of Currys with 50" TVs

No because the belief is a part of them, Culer on the other hand is a wum.
