That's a poor excuse. Liverpool finished 5th the season before Klopp took over and Chelsea finished 4th the season Tuchel took over.

Liverpool were 10th in the league when Klopp became manager. Chelsea were 8th in the league when Tuchel took over. Both teams were of similar quality.

Amazing how Klopp took a world-class squad that was basically Liverpool's highest scoring side in 130 years and their closest to winning the PL in about two decades, and when you look back on them now it seems like they were a bunch of journeymen and losers.

Look at the league positions. The teams were of similar levels. Football is more than how good the names look on paper, it's about how the players function as a team.

League position only matters at the end pal , we are nicely tucked in the top 4 playing great football

No comparison as they both took over completely different squads and situations. Tuchel took over a very good, yet underperforming team whereas Klopp took over a team that was performing at about the level they were at.

Klopp had to essentially reface the entire side, with the only lasting player from his first team to now is Henderson. Tuchel invested in Lukaku and a couple of other players to strengthen the squad which shows how much "more" Klopp needed to do than Tuchel.

That's not to say either are doing poor jobs or anything, but it just seems silly to compare who is the better manager based on the length of time they've had to achieve the top trophies when they started at completely different stages.

But it would be like comparing Man United to West Ham in 5 years time and saying "which manager has done the better job Moyes or x" (assuming United win something and do well in that time).

You have to actually put some context into what you're writing, you can't just mindlessly come out with facts, league positions etc when that doesn't show the full extent of the situation.

Tuchel walked into a team that had qualified for UCL the previous season AND had about £250m spent on it that summer.

Klopp's was far more of a rebuild. Their team that won the UCL and the league were nearly all bought by Klopp. Tuchel inherited an embarrassment of riches

Chelsea spent £250m refreshing the squad 6 months before Tuchel started, Lampard was just doing a terrible job.

Tuchel has done a fantastic job, no arguments at all. But comparing the two is just absolute nonsense.

And as I have said above, listing stats without context is meaningless.

It's obvious Chelsea had much more quality than the Liverpool side, Tuchel took over an underperforming side at the time of his arrival whereas Klopp took over a side that was probably par for the course really and performing at the level you'd expect that squad to be at.

It shows a lot that Tuchel had to buy a CF and a couple of squad players to be where they are now whereas Klopp has had to reshape 95%+ of this squad.

That is pretty accurate, don't see how you can say Tuchel is better because he took over a good side in a poor position as opposed to Klopp who took over an average side in an average position.

Is it that Tuchel squad had quality or is that he made them into quality? Because they were 8th in the league before he came
