Technically we could have, but like the 27 other member states, we’d have used the EU Vaccine Scheme.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Hungary, Slovakia, Czech Republic, Germany etc all approved additional vaccines that were outside of the EU vaccination schemes. So states, whilst signing up to it were also approved other vaccines separately.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
So why were we miles ahead of all the EU? Saying Brexit had nothing to do with it is daft. It’s the only real benefit seen from Brexit, there’s plenty wrong with it. Best to stick with those items.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
The problem was the "best endeavours" contract the Commission signed with AZ. And AZ being unable to fulfill the contract as it over promised/under delivered.
Nevertheless the premise of bulk ordering/mass procurement is/was sound, as you can acquire huge amounts of a commodity at a lower outlay. The EU just messed up its contract with AZ.

Right and would we have been part of that contract?
It doesn't have to be as bad as it will be, the issue is the utter morons who are in charge of delivering it.
That's not me condoning Brexit at all btw, just pointing out you've got the worst possible people in charge of delivering it which doesn't help matters
We paid more and paid sooner so we were ahead in the queue vs the bulk order for less money.
It’s the only benefit I’ve seen so far with Brexit.

If we chose to. Had nothing to do with EU membership though. The Commission sent out it's vaccine procurement scheme offer to non member states as well as EFTA.
The EU also used its procurement scheme to export 43 million doses of vaccines around the world.

I didn't want to leave, and also didn't want Boris as PM.
Both big mistakes imo, especially the first.
We are 22 miles away from France, and all the EU markets. It will make us worse off.
I live in France, but am still British and want the best for us. I don't know what advantages people think we will gain from leaving.

For the avoidance of doubt, there was no requirement for the UK (or any EU member state for that matter) to join the EU vaccine procurement scheme.
To characterise it as a Brexit benefit is simply untrue.

No, it doesn’t. The key time was to rollout asap and we were miles ahead of the EU. The catch up and in some cases overtake is due to the large amount of people refusing to take the vaccine, the longer gap that we put in place in between doses.
Our footballers are the worst I heard today on sky.

The answer is that we don't know though. We didn't need to. Who knows if the UK government at the time will have tried to source a home grown vaccine. Would the UK being in the EU have eased the EU's contract which would have made it more beneficial to the UK?
You are trying to place certainty on an unknown. The answer is that we didn't need to join the EU scheme, so we could have still completed it the way we did. Anything else is just speculation.
Being that most of the EU has a better vaccination rate than the UK does that mean that the UK can’t even claim the vaccine rollout as a comparative success?

If they are indeed, thinking.
