Newcastle are making very short term signings but they are bringing in players better than they have at the moment and that will probably be enough to keep them up which is their sole objective this season.
Do have memories of a night in my old home town when I left the pub with the last girl in the place. Never got to know her name, never saw her again, probably wouldn’t have recognised her if i did, but it made for a nice walk home
Plenty of stories about Traore not signing a new contract which will probably end in him leaving this month or in the summer. But news now emerging on Saiss whose contract runs out this summer. Evidently he too has been offered a new contract but has turned it down
Yes I have memories of a night out in Wolverhampton, getting kicked out of the Walkabout at 2am chatting to a girl from Bradford who was there with a mate and a bloke called Dave who'd buggered off and left them. Turned out however that she'd actually been brought up in Hednesford and went to the same school as me albeit a few years after so plenty to talk about. They were staying at Dave's flat in Walsall so we offered them a share of our taxi back, dropping them off on our way back to my mates house in Telford. Mysteriously however although they had the address they "couldnt remember which flat was his" and the Bradford girl was making it very clear in the back of the taxi that her preferred choice of lodging was on top of me. Anyway, I'll leave that story there as it got a bit messy after that

I can vaguely remember the occasional Saturday nights like that...
Villa’s signings don’t seem too shabby though?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Lucas Digne saying he wanted to go to Villa to play for Gerrard is a right kick in the teeth for Everton and their over sensitive fanbase
Yesterday Burnley sold Chris Wood to Newcastle. Today Burnley called off their home match against Leicester tomorrow because they don’t have enough players. Funny old world
I believe Chris Wood had a release clause in his contract that Newcastle matched, so I don't think they had much choice in the matter. I doubt they would have sold a key player to Newcastle mid season otherwise.
Southampton come to Molineux in good form. They are unbeaten in 5 games having beaten West Ham, Swansea and Brentford and drawn with Palace and Spurs. In those 5 games they’ve scored 13 and conceded 8 so they seem to be playing a quite open game.
In the last 13 games between Wolves and Southampton, Wolves have won 7, drawn 4, and lost only 2.
should be a good game tomorrow

Good to see a team bringing in better players than what they have.
But are they right players ....?
And are they making the squad too big..........?
Amiga will let us know soon.

It is a valid question. Foe Newcastle in the position they are in, they may well be. For us, not so much.
So that is confirmed then, great signings.
And right on cue, the font of all transfer knowledge
Academy youngster Lewis Richards has gone to Harrogate in loan for the rest of the season.
Bruno has said he expects Traore to still be a Wolves player at the end of this transfer window
Wolves have said they aren’t interested in signing Matt Doherty and the player has said he has no interest in coming back to Wolves

----------------------------------------------------------------------
I'm not sure that's quite what he said. When asked if Traore will still be a Wolves player on the 1st Feb, he said:
"Yes, that's in my mind. Nothing change. But, you know, this is football, the club has talked with Adama before, he has one year left on contract. I need to understand that. For now, I prefer to keep the players I have."
Sounds like he staying unless he goes to me.
Just watched a training video in which Lage appears towards the end to be repeating the phrase 4-4-2, after a goal. Could be bluff and just an option but could be that following Silva's impressive game last weekend he might just be prepared to unleash Bruno-ball in full force.
As well as saying he expects Traore to be a Wolves player at the end of the window he did say that no offers had been received.
Just wondering what that would look like in practice:
Sa
Semedo - Coady - Kilman - Marcal/RAN
Podence - Neves - Moutinho - Traore
Silva - Jimenez
Going tomorrow, and would be happy to see that side, as long as we have a plan B, if it all goes pear shaped.
Unlikely we are going to get dragged into the relegation battle now, so we may as well just go for it.
He who dares wins….
Just don’t see 442 as a good formation for us. Podence as a right winger for example would certainly not suit him, and never been convinced a 4 man back line would be good for Coady, or a full back position for Ait Nouri. Feels like a team of square pegs in round holes to me.
On the other side of the coin Fabio is certainly now pushing for a start but I would put him in this formation
Sa
Dendoncker, Coady, Kilman
Semedo, Moutinho, Neves, Ait Nouri
Podence
Jimenez, Silva
Good opportunity tomorrow to see what we would have looked like if we had given Saiss away.
I think the wingers play narrower in 442 Bruno ball and the width comes from the full backs. It will be like a 4222 when he finally unleashes it. Unlikely to be until next season after we've got defensive and midfield reinforcements I'd have thought.
