Interesting that Spurs are said to be interested in signing Traore as a RWB. They signed Docherty, who is a RWB and never played him as a RWB. Now they want to sign Traore as a RWB who will never ever make a RWB.

Shrewd.

Evidently Conte wanted Traore as a RWB when he was at Chelsea so that story does seem to have some credibility

Unfortunately Spurs have played with a back four and Doherty isn't suited to playing at RB any more. To suggest he'll just sit out his contract is absurd. If he's any kind of professional, he'll be wanting to play, not just warming a bench.

Anymore? Doherty was never really suited to playing right back. Hence why he struggled to get into the Wolves side in the Championship and League One.

he clearly wanted the move to Spurs for financial security (it was his right) he creamed about how great the stadium/facilities are/were at Spurs when he signed... Im not sure he'l be in a rush to jump ship

Absurd to think that he wouldn't take a 50% pay cut to go and play for Reading in the Championship?

Doherty has started the last three matches for Spurs, one each as LM, LWB and RWB. Not sure if they are trying to put him in the shop window or the fact that they were all cup games including two legs of the semi final.

Doherty progressed in to a very good Premier League wing back with an eye for goal under Nuno. I dont think anyone really begrudged him his move to a club that is undoubtedly bigger than us or the rewards that came with that. I'm not so sure that his career has benefitted on the field and his reputation as a player has diminished which is sad to see. He was an important player for us, whereas for Spurs he's had to fit in around systems under 4 different coaches that haven't quite suited him and playing for a fan base that hasnt seen him at his best. Just a bad move from a playing point of view.

The Willy Boly saga continued and gets curiouser and curiouser.
I just read that Wolves have put him up for sale for £10m

posted on 13/1/22

I guess Boly is going nowhere then

posted on 13/1/22

But why would they put him up for sale when we are desperate for another CB? If he's fit play him. If he's not fit there is no point in putting him up for sale as no-one will buy him.
The only conclusion is that he wants away or has had a major falling out with Bruno.

Something has obviously gone seriously wrong.
Big shame really, however as he has hardly played regularly for ages then it seems to be the best way out for all.
That's if we can shift him.

Can’t imagine we will find it easy to offload Boly when he hasn’t been fit to play all season, and most of last season. I can imagine the furore if Wolves signed a player with that fitness record let alone paid £10m for him. Do sense there’s more to his absence than has currently been made public.

It's a pity this website doesn't allow me to remove the o from the The Black Count(ry), as the last word would be very apt at describing him.

Doherty will find a club and I'm sure he's made some money from the transfer to Spurs. Where he ends up I guess, is up to him, but there will be takers.

Wolves looking less and less likely to recover the £16m they paid out for Cutrone. Empoli is his latest loan club where he has scored two so far this season. Reading that his current market valuation is around £3m

Doubt we will recoup all his fee but he is having a good season and featured consistently.

Very amusing that Newcastle are still making typically Newcastle signings, they're just paying twice as much for them now. Triggering a 27m buyout clause in Chris Woods contact is like blowing all your cash at the end of the night on the last girl left in the club at kicking out time, buying her a kebab and everything in the hope of a quick knee trembler behind the bus shelter.

I can vaguely remember the occasional Saturday nights like that...
Villa’s signings don’t seem too shabby though?
