I’m vaccinated but do believe it’s up to the individual persons to choose if they want it or not.

Indeed, and they should live with the consequences of that choice.
They should also stop clogging up hospital beds.

Do we think that all PL players should be double vaxxed in order to play? There is a good percentage that are not. Are we therefore being rather hypocritical? Should they not be called out?

As far as I know they're at least fairly tactful about things.
On Australia in particular, until recently at least hit's andled the pandemic very well, despite what most people probably think life has been very much business as usual for the majority of people here in Oz. Victoria and Melbourne in particular not so much but they did at least limit deaths well and only relaxed measures when everyone above 16 had been offered and had the time to receive 2 doses of the vaccine
Not perfect by any means but in terms of pandemic response they'd be way above most nations.
Was the Djokovic saga handled well, definitely not obviously.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
What’s happening in Australia at the moment is quite frankly scary. Yes, there’s been less deaths and infections but the % of your population with natural immunity and antibodies is much lower than most Angloshpere countries
The whole saga hasn't been handled well by anyone, but ultimately it was the right decision.
I just picture the opposite scenario of Djokovic being booed throughout the tournament, winning it, and effectively encouraging anti-vaxxers
If he did indeed make a mistake on his visa form which merited deportation by law then no I can't really feel sorry for him. It does very much look like he's been singled out because of who he is though and it's very political.
Their government have also made an absolute hash of the whole situation.

Reality is that there should have been different entry requirements for elite athletes, like providing proof of negative covid test at the boarder and the requirement of isolating between matches... or something along those lines. That way he could turn up, play tennis, and go back to his hotel or apartment until the next match.

COVID is forever evolving as mutations occur and considering a vaccinated person bought in Omicron in Australia and it's now seen that the vaccinated are spreading and are more hospitalised now policies should be changed to reflect it.

Beat me to it. The embarrassment is wholly on Djokovic. Lying on the form, probably falsely doctoring his Serbian tests, forcing his employees to collude in the falsification, revealing his stupidity on his sm having potentially put other people at risk, revealing throughout that he probably entered Spain illegally, deleting all said sm, spunking money on lawyers to find a technicality when he knew he was guilty all along - the list is endless. What a phanny!
He’s a liar and was quite rightly deported. Australia set a good example to other anti-vaxxers that think they’re above the law.
that he lied on his immigration papers and that is the reason he is deported, which is the only correct thing to do.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
the reason he was deported was because they saw him as a 'health risk', they didn't deport because of the papers, that just gave that little reason to drag the scenario out, mistakes on papers happen all the time and can be amended.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
Perhaps but it's marginal, it would be based on the small percentage difference in the number of unvaccinated people in the UK that have had covid vs the equivalent percentage in Australia.
Australia has 78% of it population vaccinated, UK has 71%. The vast majority of unvaccinated are under 16s who while still at risk are at a far lower risk of serious symptoms.
https://coronavirus.jhu.edu/vaccines/international
Your comment is very strange, makes it sound like you're more worried "scared" about Australia in particular when it's in pretty much the same situation as other nations. Just without all the death leading up to this point. Although some will come, likely at a similar percentage to what the UK will continue to have rather than the huge numbers pre vaccine rollout.
You appear to be demonstrating a failure to understand even the basics of the situation?

Do we think that all PL players should be double vaxxed in order to play? There is a good percentage that are not. Are we therefore being rather hypocritical? Should they not be called out?

ill-revelent
this is Australia, not UK

The virus cares not for geography
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Are there any top footballers who are so vocal about it?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I don't understand what's "scary" here? (or scarier rather)
Instead of protection from infection Australian's got protection from vaccination. If they had no vaccines your statement would make a little more sense in a really pointless way.
So no, the % of the population with protection is not lower, it was just accumulated without over 150,000 people dying like the UK for instance

Answer this............how many people have to die to achieve "herd immunity"? And does that really exist?
Or would you die for a fantasy that doesn't exist?

You really are thick Ted. A complete laughing stock

The whole thing was an absolute mess and really embarrassing for Australia. It should not have gone out of control like that and to brandish him a risk to public health goes a bit far too. I think we'll look back on this in a few years and laugh at how ridiculous and hysterical the whole thing is.
Reality is that there should have been different entry requirements for elite athletes, like providing proof of negative covid test at the boarder and the requirement of isolating between matches... or something along those lines. That way he could turn up, play tennis, and go back to his hotel or apartment until the next match.
The whole thing stick of political showboating to be honest. But what's new there...
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Why do people keep peddling this nonsense as the reason he was deported?? When it has been pointed out numerously in the news and on here, that he lied on his immigration papers and that is the reason he is deported, which is the only correct thing to do.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
the reason he was deported was because they saw him as a 'health risk', they didn't deport because of the papers, that just gave that little reason to drag the scenario out, mistakes on papers happen all the time and can be amended.
