It's a good thing everyone has a choice and that you dont have to watch anything you dont want to.
Some people just want to moan about anything for the sake it

Its not you if that helps. Your concerns have been well put and opened good debate.
As for 1 other, moanathon.com
Really good interview here with one of the Vanity Fair writers who had the inside scoop with the showrunners.
She's seen the first 3 episodes (pre-prod), and though she cant give anything away, she does confirm some good details about the series.

It looks rather geenric for the money spent on it. Im not a huge tolkien or lord of the rings fan so i dont mind the lack of faithfulness to the source material. As I said for the money spent it does look rather bland.
However Amazon orignials have an amazing track record. Bosch and goliath are two of the best tv series ive seen.
The boys, hunters, sneaky pete and reacher are all excellent so we will see.

Was anyone else aware of Amazon not having all the rights to LOTR? That's quite a big surprise for me and it would tie with the changes that they are making.

Yeh, they dont have any rights on the first age, though they have confirmed there will be flashbacks based on the Appendices

I'm obviously not going to judge it based off a 1/2 minute trailer but that's also my worry after watching it.
It didn't really feel like LOTR, just felt like generic fantasy world #245
yeah some shots wouldnt look out of place in the shannara chronicles

Been subscribed to the Matt (Nerd) for a while. Really good content.
this show will likely do the same but one thing that bothered me in lotr was orcs winning 1v1 fights against human soldiers(gondor scenes mainly) instead of overwhelming them with numbers, they needed the massive hordes for a reason
Would be nice if this was a thread for all things Tolkien and not just Amazons Rings of Power.
How about a title change OP?

When’s this out?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
2nd September
Goid breakdown again

The new trailer looked good. Time will tell how the show plays out but I'll give it a chance.
I've watched the LOTR movies and read Fellowship, so I'm not a diehard fan but what's the story of this show? Is Sauron showing up?
If this comes even near to the lotr films (best trilogy around imo) then it will be epic. And given they’ve spent an monstrous amount on it….

It’s pretty much guaranteed not to.
For a start, it shunned most of the source material.
For half a billion or whatever it is, I’m expecting it acted live in my living room
