Another mass shooting in the US

EXACTLY. Thank you.

Both cities have some of the country's strongest gun control laws and look at what still happens.

I rest my case.
======
Gun control laws don't reduce gun crime as most is committed with regular guns. A ban on big guns doesn't do much for common crime.

You see how for you every issue is short, simple and straight to the point. There's no critical "whats below the top layer" thought process, nothing too complicated or nuanced in your world. Typical of right wingers who prefer short, simple and direct solutions even for complex problems. Others call it stupidity.

I'd say the guy who needs a gun on him to go buy a gallon of milk was more of a coward. But hey that's just me.

Poolmy, let me ask you something, see if we can maybe have a constructive discussion here.

You advocate gun possession as a way of keeping you and your family safe.

The U.S. has a history of expansion during which much was won by the use of force. Independence was won that way, as was all the land.

Nevertheless, the country gained independence nearly 250 years ago. The threat of your former colonial overlords wanting to take the land back disappeared many centuries ago.

Moreover, the frontier was declared more than 130 years ago, and there is no discernible threat either from the north or the south.

So, when it comes to gun ownership, why is it that so many people still act as if there was an imminent risk of war?

Yet there are many countries that are much safer than the U.S. in terms of homicide rate, despite gun ownership being much more restrictive.

Why do you think the USA isn't a safer country?

I offered up a couple of ideas about half an hour ago, how about taking up this discussion?

"Thanks to Texas being an open carry state, I like being able to carry mine when going places"

I'm sure you do. So you can show your kids what will happen to them if they drink some beer.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
That they would have a good time?
----------------------------------------------------------------------

I thought you were in favour of shooting people who break the law
----------------------------------------------------------------------
No, I am in favor of shooting people who are a threat to my family, myself, and/or property.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Right. You said that if someone steps into your garden you would shoot them because they have broken the law.

When it was pointed out that your children have probably broken the law you laughably insisted they never would, suggesting that you still think people who break laws should be shot.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
No. Read it again. I said that I would shoot someone who was a threat to my family or property.

At what point did I say I would shoot someone for just walking into my garden?

An intruder would be someone trying to break into my home.

You're not very good at this, are you?
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Very good at what? Living life in comfort without beingg so scared and insecure that I have to carry a gun with me to feel like a man? I would say I'm much better st that than you.

Constructing a reasoned argument? Most 8 year old can do that better than you.

I'll tell you what I'm not very good at. I'm not very good at wanting to control women's bodies and force them to give birth, or trying to prevent children receiving an education. You are definitely better at that than me.

The last time Great Britain was invaded was 1797. If your theory that you are convinced about was true, then you would expect constant invasions over the last 200+ years.

I also note Canada haven't been invaded much since 1812 either.

An honest man defends his homeland no matter how f*cked up it may be. But it's my home.
=====
I'm sorry but this is where you go wrong and why I hate nationalism. Borders are imaginary lines drawn on a map to help justify some seriously facked up sheet.

It seems so easy and obvious to me that a truly honest man first defends the truth, fairness, safety and justice ahead of everything else, even his own country.

Right, the point is that you are republican and that the republican agenda in Texas has a mish mash of contradictory and abhorrent positions. As a republican voter, you are in favour of these positions. This is why they are relevant.

Part of the reason the UK has never been invaded is probably to do with the alliance with the US. That would be the might of the US military though. People aren't having second thoughts about invading the UK because some nuts in Alabama own some guns.

You state that this gunman shouldn't have been allowed a gun, but your actions show that you think he should have been allowed one. That is a contradictory position.

These idiots say they want to protect the innocence of their youth but are happy enough to have them surrounded by guns, armed cops needed at schools and have 5 year olds doing shooter drills at schools.

The only right you have is to live your life afraid and in fear from the time you are born to when you die, very possibly prematurely. They have no clue the peace that societal safety brings, not needing to think about or have lethal weapons within reach during a family barbecue. Content in their melting pot cauldron.

Geniuses.

Both men were racist fcks. These are the people who shouldn't have had one.

----------------------------------------------------------------------

That excludes a huge number of gun owners.

Also, were you trying to make some kind of point by bringing an African American shooter into the conversation?
