Do people still believe that Labour caused the US subprime mortgage crises, which lead to the GFC or something?

It's difficult to argue if someone is blinkered enough to believe something so ridiculous.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Some don’t even know what a subprime mortgage is, but will happily rant on about Gordon Brown bankrupting the country mate.

Yep, I sort of hope there is a bit of a revamp amongst the senior Tories. There are some very good people in that party but very few of them have a face.

---------------------------------------------------------------------

I'm genuinely curious to know who the faceless very good Tories are. Any names you'd like to put forward?

There used to be a whole swathe I disagreed with but considered to be intellectually honest and fundamentally committed to the principles of liberal democracy. Most of the remainder of those were purged from the party when Johnson took over. Dominic Grieve is maybe the best example.

Of the current Conservative MPs we'll certainly see a number coming out now speaking eloquently about their disgust at how Johnson has degraded the office of PM, etc. But they stood by and voted with the government throughout a series of outrageous policies, including criminalising protest and electoral reforms that will result in a million or more voters losing the ability to vote. Principled abhorrence emerges as it becomes clear he is an electoral liability rather than a vote winner.

This will change nothing. He will just be replaced by another like him. Most of the Tory Party are complicit in the mess this country is in. The only reason for removing Boris is they fear losing their seats at the next election. With the NHS in ruin’s, air travel a mess, Ferry traffic backed up for miles and the cost of living soaring they may have left it all too late.

But people rant about the current state of the country because Tories are "evil" when Covid is a huge part of why the country is facked.

How can the Labour party be absolved, and the Tory party be completely at fault?

Brexit is one of the main reasons why this country is facked you donkey, why is it we have the lowest economic growth forecasted in the G7? Why do we have the highest inflation in the G7?

Are they still doing that hilarious everyone gets £400 per home thing? Was thinking of buying up 100 run down houses on the cheap, bagging the £40,000 then flogging the houses after that.

Why the fack are we the only country that has foooking staff shortages in every single sector? We can’t even fly our families properly during half term. We had a facking fuel shortage in the autumn because we didn’t have lorry drivers. It’s a shambles, we are truly a banana republic.

I will never understand how anyone can say the alternative is worse when we have no idea what an alternative will actually be like. I also have no idea how people can say it given the absolute state of the country right now.

Tax rises, cost of living crisis, corruption, mass fraud, no money to aid the common people but money for their rich mates, food banks everywhere, people having to make a choice between eating or heating, inflation at 10% and rising, and yet you think it can get worse??

It's already utter sh!te for the majority of the country. The Tory's aren't going to miraculously improve after 12 years, but by all means keep voting for it then act surprised when it doesn't get better.

No one blames Covid on the Tory's.

People are rightly angry over things like their care home policy which led to huge number of deaths, giving PPE contracts to their mates, writing off £12Billion worth of fraud, and lockdown parties.

But you cannot ignore that Labour were at the wheel and adopted a very light touch to regulation of banks which contributed to the financial crisis, and that G Brown sold off much of our gold reserves at record low prices, to fund spending, even though they had also overseen an economic boom .

So while the world may have been hit by recession, we went it into with our credit cards maxed out and no savings, despite enjoying financial good times

Nah, he'll win comfortably...for the same reason as why the Conservatives are in power, the alternative is rubbish!
----------------------------------------------------------------------
lol, I’ll take ANY alternative to these rancid criminal fascists!

B B B But Big Dog Boris got all the big decisions right!

Brexit = utter catastrophe.
Covid = 200,000 dead and billions plundered for their mates.
Cost of living = done f*ck all.

Worse - he'd be replaced by someone equally nefarious but with more ability to look and act like an actual PM, thus making the Tories more popular again. I'm hoping Boris hangs on and continues to be a liability.

The choice between Tory and Labour, is like wondering whether to sack your manager, Steve Bruce, and replace him with Frank Lampard.

The former is clearly incompetent but the alternative is a massive risk and despite his good intentions, might well be a different kind of disaster.

Why rely on 'people ranting' as the opposing view? The UK government's own assessment of the hard Brexit we chose was that it would cause substantial economic damage. This is supported by multiple empirical studies. And now in the real world the effects are beginning to be seen. The impacts of numerous genuinely international economic challenges (Covid, demographics) are hitting us harder than our neighbours.

Seems not!

Tories are scvm so taking that into account and coupling it with self interest and a lack of integrity I'd say pretty low.

Which is amazing really because he has done an appalling job, but this is what people voted for,

Based on what? What type of disaster that is different or worse than what we currently have?
