So apparently we're after Eriksen, de Jong and Anthony?
Hopefully lazy journalism.
I'm all for managers getting players they know but none of these are really proven outside of Ajax, Eriksen aside who you have to wonder what he has left in him.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Eriksen has never played for ETH, has he? I think they missed each other at Ajax by about four years. So in this case it would be neither lazy journalism nor a lazy 'get players you already know' recruitment strategy.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
He trained at Ajax as part of his rehabilitation, although I think with the reserves. Might be that there is a link between them as a result.
Oh come on, this just sounds like a poster making up because everyone else is buying players.
Let's be honest, you could pick any player in the world and just come on here and say "Utd have made an offer" Not fooling anyone.

And tbf getting a midfield is pretty pressing for United
He's a good player. Better than Lingard?
I want to see Garner at least tried in a three.
Getting Eriksen, De Jong and a dm would be grate.

Why do United keep going after players who are in negotiations with clubs in a better position than them? Are they trying to lure them with crazy wages or something?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Clearly not, otherwise we would have signed them.
Better than Lingard?
---
Nope. You should give him the contract you offered to Eriksen.

Garner isn't good enough yet, 52.
I read an observation on Twitter about ETH at Ajax wanting to have a few experienced players who are model pros in his squad to set standards / expectations. I guess that's all the more important when United requires a(nother) culture reset. Eriksen may not play all the time, but would be one of the more gifted players in the XI and hard working. Also another one for whom coordinated pressing isn't an unfamiliar concept.

Where would he fit in at United?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Presumably he'd add depth to the squad in competition with the likes or Bruno, vdB (who I assume will be given a chance under ETH), as well as offer CM cover a little deeper as well at times.
I'm all for this signing personally (if it happened).
A loan to a prem team would do Garner good.

Agree, with Bruno as AM, Donny already here and potentially an option if he remembers how to play football, and McFred chipping in it would represent a much better group of midfield options than we had last year.
Just the rest of the side to sort out.

Staying with Forest is probably what will happen, but I'd be curious to see how he gets on with a more established PL team. He might be a savvy loan for someone like Brighton given they're losing Bissouma and will want cover in that position.
I think he'll stay with Forest and that makes sense; he'll start for them week in week out in the PL, which has been a big problem with other loanee's like Tuanzebe & others who have been poorly placed with their loan stints.
We can keep Garner for pre season and let ETH have a look as I expect he will with all the youngsters on the fringe, he could go back to forest the day before the league starts and still slot back in so no need to send him early.
Yeah it doesn’t have to be Forest. I’d like to see him at Brighton as I think Potter does a really good job with his midfielders. Though I guess they may want to sign a permanent replacement for Bissouma.
He’s one of them if he plays for your team, you see his contribution outside long range goals and killer passes.
So, any fans of the teams he’s played for? What does he bring outside of those two valuable traits?

Not when compared to the greats of the not so distant past: Robson, Keane; Scholes, Carrick, etc.
A long way to go, and that’s the bar we need to compete with the two behemoths. Plus everyone else.

Ouch.
Although, also, incoming Manchistory United comments:
Spurs looking good, no denying.
Better option, next season at least.
I don't see how Eriksen is a regular even in our team either. He's not benching Bruno is he? And we have Donny and Hannibal too who can play his role.
He's going to be a squad player at Utd or Spurs. I don't even care if he doesn't come to us as he's not a priority signing at all.
