i wouldnt say spurs are in a better position than us at all

Well we clearly are. He would love to play in the Champions League. The better part of your offer would be money and..?

didnt the spurs fans want him lynched when he went last time after he pretty much downed tools before he left for inter
----------------------------------------------------------------------
They did the same with Kane.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
What’s that got to do with Eriksen ?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
That fans are fickle.

Can't see him going to Utd. Whilst still a big club, you're a mess right now and it's going to take a while until you sort yourselves out.

Would improve United’s midfield. Although 99% of players would also do so.

Winks is part of the 1%

If this is true, I'm curious about what (if anything) it tells us about United's wider recruitment (and selling) strategy this summer. With Bruno in the squad and Donny coming back, we already have a couple of options in terms of a number 10 in front of a double pivot. Does that mean ETH isn't planning on using both of those players? Or does it suggest that a three-man midfield is on the cards?

Most fans of any club would have done anything to be in the privileged position of playing for the team so when a player is so single minded about leaving it's hard not to take it personally.

I hated Bale, Kane, Modric, Berbatov, Carrick and Eriksen
when they wanted out but life goes on and it soon passes.

On a side note, does absolutely ever transfer rumour have to spark a "he wouldn't go to your club when he could go to this better team" comments? Do we have to come out with the long list of players who have joined the team that had a worse season last year than the one who had a better season to remind them it's a bit more complicated than that? Sometimes, they join the worse team even when the better team offers them more money, which probably isn't the case when it's United vs Spurs. I remember, for instance, Harry Kewell opting for Benitez's Liverpool over Fergie's United.

Is he as good as he was though? After his issues.
2 years in a snail paced league and then a stint at Brentford....

It could indicate that a midfield three would be used and, or, Donny hasn’t much of a future.

Lingard, Mata and Pogba leaving - whatever people think of them - are three senior attacking players that we are losing. Eriksen would be a good squad option. I don’t think he’s going to be a guaranteed starter whether he goes to Spurs or United. So you can see why both clubs would want him for his quality and experience as a versatile squad option.

Mata replacement? Wouldn’t have been high up on my list.

And United will be absolutely guaranteed to fack his heart up. The medical team will probably mix his power pack up with an old watch battery when they service his ICD and he’ll end up on the life support machine between Phil Jones’s and Eric Bailly’s.

youve finished ahead of us once in the last 3 years... maybe.. just maybe players can actually look beyond things like that and come to the conclusion that one swallow doth not maketh a summer

So apparently we're after Eriksen, de Jong and Anthony?

Hopefully lazy journalism.

I'm all for managers getting players they know but none of these are really proven outside of Ajax, Eriksen aside who you have to wonder what he has left in him.

The only one of them I really hated was Berbatov. Caant refused to train. Kane was a bad one but I think that was mostly his idiot brother

posted on 14/6/22

At Ajax he played with a single pivot and two number eights. He will soon get a wake up call when he has faced a few PL teams. This isn't the cloggers league.

posted on 14/6/22

Heard stuff about him wanting to stay in London but you'll probably offer him a good enough deal to compensate for that

Interested to see his decision

ETH has played different formations at Ajax. Last season it was a dedicated DM in a three-man midfield. In the team that reached the CL semi it was a double pivot. But whatever the formation, the defensive solidity of the team depends on the responsibilities of all of the players and the collective movements of the team.

Eriksen has never played for ETH, has he? I think they missed each other at Ajax by about four years. So in this case it would be neither lazy journalism nor a lazy 'get players you already know' recruitment strategy.

I'd say FDJ has demonstrated he's a top class player at Barcelona and for the Netherlands. He hasn't hit stratospheric heights for Barca in part because the club itself has been in turmoil, in part because his ideal role doesn't quite match with Barcelona's tactical template.

Eriksen has been available for weeks and now you make an offer for him.

Does this mean De Jong has said no?
