Eriksen to United?

Our fans hate the thought of having 2 good players for 1 position. They’d go mental if we inherited the City squad.

I think Eriksen would be a shrewd piece of business if we can get him. Some competition for Bruno and someone else in midfield who can see a pass.

Isn't that meant to be Donny though? Ten Hag must be thinking of him in all this

Five subs next season too so players have a chance to get much more game time. We could essentially end the match with a different front five for example.

Donny isn't a #10, I dont care what anyone says.

I very much doubt we’d offer Eriksen a contract without ETH wanting him, I’m sure VDB will be an option too. Who knows how we will set up and how many options we need, but we need a fair amount of players than can keep the ball and pass it better than our current options.

On a free and with PL experience, with losing Lingard, Mata, Matic and Pogbas wages just from midfield it’s a sensible signing to boost the overall quality of the squad and give us another quality option.

I think he’ll be a spurs player by the end of the week though.

Who said anything about a 10? Eriksen isnt really a ten is he? He's more of an '8'. We have plenty of those.

What we need is a DM, a RB, a back up striker, maybe a CB and RW.

I'd say an 8 or 10 however you want to call it is massively down the priority list given the options we currently have there and the massive gaps we have elsewhere.

He's a different type of #10; ghosts into little pockets and looks for short and sharp 1-2's and has that ability to find space in the box to grab goals. He's not really a playmaker type of #10, but more of a link-up type player.

Given our football under Ole was quite heavily based on individual's producing moments & counter attacking, rather than a systemised passing & possession game, his signing was a real mystery.

I'm saying a 10 because thats Bruno's typical position, and I think Eriksen would provide competition there.

I get what Berba is saying about the type of #10, but that so far hasn't worked with our current crop of players.

I am interested to see what ETH does with Donny, he is a decent player.

Don't disagree with you but given we have Bruno and Donny (not forgetting the very talented Hannibal n Garnacho) I think we need to use our budget elsewhere.

It's far from a priority was my point given how many other areas of the squad are in much worse state.

Not really fussed about this one. Wasn’t fussed two years ago when we were in for him either. I don’t think we need him.

Totally agree. It wouldn't upset me at all if we got him but at same time I really don't care if we don't.

I think we have at least 6/7 other positions I'd like to see filled first and Eriksen isn't going to be a first 11 regular for us anyway. I'd be amazed if he was.

Don’t really see the point myself. Too many other positions that need to be addressed.

Yeah competition for Bruno / Donny and co is really not what I'm worried about.

DM - Mcfred
CM - Mcfred, Donny n Garner
RB - Dalot n AWB
RW - Elanga and Rashford
ST - Just Ronaldo and then Martial

The lack of links to right backs and actual defensive minded midfielders is quite scary unless we’ve suddenly got very good at not leaking everything about the club and it’s targets.

posted on 14/6/22

We're seeing ~11 senior players leaving. Creative midfielders may not be the top priority *IF* FDJ joins but there's scope in the squad for quality players, available on a free, who have tactical familiarity with systems comparable to ETH's. If you think of Eriksen as replacing Mata, and competing with McT, and giving an alternative to Bruno in a 4231 as well as the ability to play in a 433, I don't see what's not to like.

Our midfield was understocked before this season, and now we're seeing Pogba, Matic, Lingard and Mata leave.

I'd sign another left back too. Telles is awful and I'm losing faith in chippy t1ts.

This probably is not tho post to write it on. But a top quality striker is worth his weight in gold, plus diamonds for eyes.
We won our last title mainly thanks to RVP, who was a, slightly unacknowledged, genius.
I would always push the boat out on the best striker possible if I was a manager.

We could sell Donny if we sign Eriksen. Thus improving the squad and using some of the transfer fee towards better players.

Why do United keep going after players who are in negotiations with clubs in a better position than them? Are they trying to lure them with crazy wages or something?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Could probably ask the same question about Liverpool trying to sign tchouameni when he was talking to Real.

If you’re a club trying to get back to the top you have to try and get top targets unless you want to accept being mid table and purely go for mid table targets

Wouldn't you be better off keeping him around as a mate for Frenkie? €10m won't make much difference to your budget anyway

I’d rather give Frenkie the €10m to keep him happy.

What strikers are out there though?

There is a real dearth atm of proven goal scorers. 34 year old lewa seems to be only one somewhat available

Failing that you’re having to spend 100m euros on unproven strikers with a touch like lukaku who have had one good season in a second rate League

Given we have just hired his former boss this would be a bit daft.

Eriksen is also wrong side of 30 and people acting like it's Kaka in his pomp here. The desperation for some signings is getting too much for some folk. ๐Ÿ˜‚
