You do realize what I posted was the UK laws about legally accessing abortion?

All this furore about the US has brought our judgemental folks, especially everyone’s favorite Australian who loves commenting on America with zero context outside of what he reads online, who seem to think this kinda thing is unique to America.

There’s an irony in this whole decision. Obviously the topic is highly sensitive, but a lot of the people outraged by this are the same people who are also banging on about Jan 6th and how the republicans want to destroy democracy.

This judgement is actually the most democracy favoring judgement ever. The SCOTUS has literally ruled that the federal government cannot say what you can or cannot do.

They have handed the power to judge abortion rights back to the people. They have empowered the states to self govern.

If you want abortion vote for it, if you don’t vote against it. The hyperbole that the abortion is now banned is so ignorant and naive.

13 states will enact trigger laws, if you don’t like it, vote your state senate out. Elect officials who believe in pro choice.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
The British (not UK) laws, imperfect as they may be, allow for abortions for socio-economic reasons in the first 24 weeks of pregnancy.

These are recorded under Ground C, as category F99 (mental disorder, not otherwise specified) under the ICD-10 classification system, and make up 98.1% of all GB abortions.

I know, it’s why I asked it.

It’s pretty difficult to avoid religion influencing politics.

See, i do think 24 weeks is a long long time and abortions should be sooner than that other than for extreme circumstances. So if the argument was that rather than not at all i could understand some of the views.

You realise that condoms fail, the pill fails, IUDs fail?

You realise that men sometimes lie about their use of contraception or their fertility?

You realise that women endure abusive, controlling relationships?

You realise that women are raaped?

You realise that some women aren’t educated about or are unable to understand how contraceptives work?

You realise that some women don’t always have access to the morning after pill?

I feel like we should rely on science to tell us at what stage a foetus has developed sufficiently to experience pain, be capable of consciousness, etc. Rather than rely on theology to tell us that discarding a cluster of cells is evil, using beliefs that also teach us that God forbids contraception.

Do you realise that it dont take twenty four weeks to know that you are pregnant, stop making excuses for about ninety % who seek out abortions.the other ten% should get theirs and the medical backup required.

Indeed. Theology should but out of, well everything. Infact it should be condemned to the bin, to be laughed at by enlightened people of the future. Can’t believe it still has so much influence in 2022. Facking sky fairies.

This is a two way thing, men are involved in creating a child, accept the resposibility of it.In the uk there should be very little need for terminating a pregnancy.

Most of your reasons are excuses,if you dont want a baby do something about it before you engage in a sexual encounter. Simples.

Like what? Inventing a 100% reliable method of contraception? Maybe women should try not being abused by their partner? How about they force their employer to give them guaranteed employment for life so they don't get laid off and suddenly not have the money for a child?
