Yeah oppo fans are being weird. Feel pretty confident that we're a good bet for clearing 80 points. I think the goal should be to set a new club record points total - not saying we'll hit it but that should be what we're aspiring to achieve. No reason why we shouldn't be hoping to see an improvement from last season, it's not irrational overexcitement whatsoever.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
There’s improving, which you may well do and personally I’d expect; and then there’s believing you’ll finish above arguably two of the three best sides in world football over the last five years, with the top two managers in the game, and both of which were absolutely streets ahead of everyone else (including Spurs) last season.
The bookies currently have City at 8/13 for the title, and Spurs at 14/1. Third would be a commendable achievement. Any higher than that would be miracle territory.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Correct me if I'm wrong as we do have our fair share of idiots, but I don't think anyone is predicting that we'll finish 2nd on the logic that we'll hit 90+ plus points. It seems to be that anyone predicting a second place finish is doing so because they think one of the top two will fall off this season. Which I understand being sceptical of, as am I, but that's surely more of a problem with how they perceive Liverpool or city rather than how they perceive their own team
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Read back; there are at least two Spurs fans I’ve seen placing them at the top of the tree (and we haven’t even seen Sandy yet&hellip, and others in second.
Spurs finished *21pts* and *39 goals* behind Liverpool last season. Even if Liverpool drop off (could happen, but no obvious reason for them to) and Spurs improve massively, a 22pt swing is vast.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
What was the points swing when Liverpool went from scraping into the top 4 behind Spurs, to challenging for the title and just narrowly missing out on 98 points?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
In fairness to Liverpool they were CL finalists the season before, added VVD in January and then Alisson and Fabinho.
I’d be shocked if Spurs are close to the top this season.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
We signed Kulu and Bentancur in January and they made an instant impact, and now we've added a lot more quality. We might not have added as much quality to the first team like Liverpool did then but have clearly improved the quality of the squad and have not lost any big players in the process like Liverpool did with Coutinho. I don't see why we can't make see a good swing of points, which may not even need to be 22 points in order to challenge.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Your team is miles off in quality from that Liverpool team.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Nope, I have doubts about Tuchel, but think Newcastle are on the up. And I'm prepared to put a quid on it.
Seriously I think Ten Hag knows what he's doing.

Newcastle quietly turned things around, and I like the manager.

Yeh with two of the world's best forwards certainly miles off Liverpool.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Sorry I forgot you signed Mbappe and Benzema.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Kane and Son are better than any two Liverpool forwards. Mbappe and Benzema don't play in the Prem.

Yeah he only got 8 goals and 4 assists in 17 games.
Nunez has just scored 2 in 4 minutes against Leipzig.

Also Nunez scored against us in both games in the CL.last season, not too many players manage that.
Interestingly Son and KDB was the only players to score against us in both games in the league last season.

City
Liverpool
Spurs [ that hurt]
United
Arsenal
Newcastle

Nope, I have doubts about Tuchel, but think Newcastle are on the up. And I'm prepared to put a quid on it.
Seriously I think Ten Hag knows what he's doing.
Top 2 nailed on
.This Conte's year before the bust up.
Newcastle quietly turned things around, and I like the manager.
Arsenal, strong sguad, OK manager.
