Crazy on You - Heart
Nearly impossible to play for amateur guitarists apparently.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I had a listen, don’t think that would be hard at all. Maybe for learners, but anyone competent could do that. Nice riff though.

Dunno about that! The picking alone takes it above intermediate levels. Definitely some complex chords in there too

Ha, the video I listened to on YouTube was the live version that didn’t have the proper intro, having found the original- I agree that would be tricky!
One that really deserves a mention is Wicked Game by Chris Isaak. Beautiful use of the tremolo bar and just a really haunting, distinctive intro.
I feel fine , by the Beatles 👍

and seven nation army!
The only two 'intros' in post-1950s, mainstream 'pop' music culture that have grabbed me by the proverbial bollox and proverbially swung me around the proverbial room are Pretty Vacant and Smells Like Teen Spirit.
Nothing else really
Not saying that that makes them the greatest post-1950s mainstream 'pop' culture toons of all time (or anything like that) - or even that the rest of the composition is not great - because they both are. It is just that they both have 'intros' that resonate with me more than any others.

I don’t suppose it fits the criteria but I love the intro to “Sound and Vision” by Bowie.

Can’t believe he chose 80 riffs to play on the electric guitar and none were by Radiohead though. I’d have Street Spirit in there.
An underrated one which always takes me straight into the song is Back to School by Deftones.

Brilliant 👏
Nirvana - In Bloom
Queens of the Stone Age - Mexicola
Devin Townsend Project - Hyperdrive!

I have seen a tutorial guitarist doing his top twenty intros on YouTube and instead of doing it himself he showed the video of her playing it and explained why he couldn't do it.
It is also why you do not see many people imitate Steve Howe. It is nearly impossible for someone with a normal hand to be able to do what he does.
Some faves:
Mesopelagic: Into The Uncanny - The Ocean
Vicarious - Tool
Barael’s Blade - The Sword
Mayonaise - Smashing Pumpkins
March of the Fire Ants - Mastodon
The Literal Black Cloud - Intronaut
Antarctica - The Bled
Jaguar - Death Before Disco
Rays on Pinion - Baroness
99 - The Haunted
Elektra - Refused
Battery- Metallica
Tremendous intro
And Supernaut - Sabbath.
Wow, can’t believe I forgot that one.
