Battery- Metallica
Tremendous intro

Ah the forearms after playing that on the drums! Good times.

Dire Staits - Money for Nothing
A very short intro but classic none the less and is expanded on further deeper into the song is Never Going Back Again. Lindsay is a genius for sure.
Cheesy AF but very memorable and certainly gets the crowd going whether it’s live or in a metal club…
Break Stuff by Limp Bizkit.
YYZ -Rush The fans go apeshit as soon as they hear the opening.
Fade to Black - Tallica
Eminence front - The Who
Return to Serenity - Testament
Dont Fear the Reaper - BOC
Layla - Clapton
Back in Black - ACDC
Whole lotta love - Zepplin
Barracuda - Heart
Hallowed be thy name - Maiden
South of Heaven - Slayer
Am I Evil - Diamond Head/Tallica

Another one that looks very hard to play.
probably too many of mine count as pop:
The King of Carrot Flowers, Pt. One - neutral milk hotel
brown eyed girl - van morrison
nico - the fairest of the seasons
or power pop:
my valuable hunting knife - guided by voices
my before and after - cotton mather
and your bird can sing - beatles
evangeline - matthew sweet
september gurls - big star
he didn't think it was real - the model rockets
american woman - the guess who (once the acoustic intro ends)
here comes your man - pixies
of rock stuff, firkin nailed it with the two hendrix ones, otherwise:
i want to take you higher - sly stone
most of marquee moon, maybe plump for venus - television
probably half of fun house, esp down on the street/loose/1970 - the stooges
monk time - the monks
and these two have a very interesting guitar sound:
moonlight on vermont - captain beefheart
kerosene - big black
Plug In Baby - Muse
Hysteria is a good one for a bass guitar intro too.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
Muse have some top drawer intros
Green day-Boulevard of broken dreams
would also have to throw in:
passing complexion - big black
metal machine music - lou reed (just the first 64 minutes)
oh, and also a few by devo (uncontrollable urge, satisfaction, and mongoloid)
Dr Feelgood - Motley Crue
Riverboat Song - Ocean Colour Scene
Plug in Baby - Muse
In fact, loads of old Muse ones before they were horrible.
Oh, how could I forget one of the best ever..
Korn - Blind. Back in 2002, saw them live. This came on and I had a shiner for days 🫤 Great fun though.

Heroin.. Velvet Underground
Blind could also be a contender for best drum intro and best base intro.

I’ve had a go at that. Pretty hard, yes. There’s the solo bit in the middle as well, where it sounds like two or three guitars.
John Mayer has some good acoustic intros. Stop This Train is another one I tried to learn.
